Jowett Jupiter ?

It certainly looks like one, but, wheels are not right, shape of front wing as it curves away behind the wheel, flattened wheel arch at rear on Jupiter, not on this, headlamps mounted inboard of front wings closer to grille.

Having said that, I am now unable to make a suggestion beyond some sort of fibreglass special.

Yes I could not reconcile the headlights , but wheels look right .

Not a Jupiter, not a Sunbeam Alpine or 90, not a Triumph TR2... Not my area of expertise, but now I'm curious.

Possibly a stupid suggestion as I'm also out of my area of expertise, but maybe a Bristol?

^ I've been looking at Healeys too, but haven't found the integrated wingline. Had also been wondering about the various later Buckler models but so far not found a match - Mk10 is similar but not there yet.

Frazer-Nash Mille Miglia?
Healey Abbott Drophead Coupe?
Daimler Conquest Series DJ Roadster?
Bristol 402?

All these I'd put in 'look kinda similar' - someone with more expertise of broken late 40s-early 50s British cars could have a look?

14 Frazer Nash Mille Miglia built, attrition is only 1, believed lost in Iran.

Strike that one.

Healey Abbott, possible.

Daimler Conquest DJ, no, rear wings wrong, no sidelight pods on top of front wings.

Bristol 402, front bumper looks wrong.

Bonnet opening is too short for the Healey Abbott.

Both the Healey's and Dainmler's bonnets extended to meet the front grille. The subject car looks smaller and stops short of the grille if I'm reading the picture correctly.

Sidelights mounted on the top of the wings and possibly rear hinged suicide doors if the front opening is slanted forward. Scuttle height at the bottom of the windscreen looks quite high suggesting a higher bonnet line at the back, something closer to a Jowett in size and shape but slightly longer overall? Nothing comes to mind at the moment.

Had an interesting diversion back into the world of Jowett Jupiters because it looks about the right size, although clearly not a normal one. Seems there were 75 chassis released to assorted coachbuilders, who came up with some weird and wonderful creations, which have been collated into a big and expensive because it's out of print glossy book

Some examples here and here.

But I think it's a dead end - nothing I've seen looks like this one. Wheels here are distinctive for close-packed perforations - Jowetts and other suggestions above often have holes, but not as many and wider spaced. Also this one looks a proper coherent design - not a home-built lash-up, although the short bonnet opening could suggest a special/replacement body for a porridge chassis.

And, on the subject of what it’s not, it’s not a Lloyd 650 either.

Agreed, but it's the only thing I've seen so far with a wheels match.

They look like Singer 4AB wheels, but the rest of the car isn’t anywhere near.
