LOL, my thoughts exactly. Maybe if it was black or silver, I wouldn't be so certain, but the blue Mercedes is so distinctive. I suspect it may have been the personal car of Robert Baker or perhaps Monty Berman as the car appeared so darn frequently throughout the series. Production manager Johnny Goodman had a black VW Beetle that was frequently used as a background vehicle. Of course a black Beetle would not be as apparent as a blue Mercedes (and with the USA export-style headlamps!!!). Incidentally, just as I posted this, I noticed the other screen capture of this car. Notice the discolored / non-matching driver's door color in The Baron, which is the same condition as it is seen in the Saint episode "The Queen's Ransom". The odd thing about "The Queen's Ransom" appearance is that it alternates between the wide whitewalls, to blackwalls at "Zurich Airport" (Luton Airport) and then back again in other shots. -- Last edit: 2024-04-22 00:47:04 |
