the name vaz is used since chevrolet buys lada...from the 200 year i think, when they show the lada calina concept.

Wikipedia says that VAZ started using the Lada name for the home market in the 1980s (previously it used the Zhiguli marque. GM didn't buy VAZ but it did establish a joint venture, GM-AvtoVAZ.
