@dsl: Are you sure about the year the plate was issued. And if so, can an older plate be used on a newer car? I pressume the issue date only tells the earliest possible date?

Glass's info gives first and end issue dates (and sometimes when a series crosses years, the last number issued at end of each year, although not relevant here for a series which was completed with 4 months of one year). Older plates could be used on a newer car as a cherished number transfer, although URT 600 does not seem particularly cherishable. Perhaps a replacement grille??

I'm not entirely sure if the older and newer grill can be switched, but I will find out as a friend of mine has a 56 Zephyr with the earlier grill (and flat rear) and my own 60' Zephyr has the newer one.
But having that said, I feel rather peculiar when saing 'new' about something that happened more than 50 years ago...
