I think it's 1956 Austin A95 Westminster [BS6]; I don't think this had a strange name for the Americas like the Cambridge/Cambrian retitle. |

Unlikely; the Mk.I A55 usually had a two-colour scheme and 13" wheels, which this doesn't. Therefore, A50. |

You can mess around with the paint and the wheels, but you can't change the small A50 rear windscreen into the larger wrap around A55 one. A55 Cambridge. |

On mine it looks like the larger A55 rear window. You can see the white colour of the car behind right down to the rear parcel shelf, and beyond the rear "quarter light" in the back door, plus the addition of the chrome strip down the side for the February 1957 introduced A55 only duo-tone paint option and also the chrome headlamp surrounds, again A55 only. Convinced? By the way, the smaller 13" wheels were introduced on the late A50s along with the Manumatic two pedal option. -- Last edit: 2013-08-22 15:38:48 |

I think I vote A55 over A50 as well (much the same hunch as my initial idea of A95 over A90); also A50 had Austin of England script badge along front wing which should be slightly visible, and looks A55 domed hubcaps more than A50 dished. |

Not all A55s were two-tone finished. It was an optional extra, and would have cost another £15 on top of the £820 of the de-luxe model. |

OK, I give in (though reluctantly: I think the hubcaps are dished, as they were normally fitted to 14" wheels) but only to un-unknown it. |

I had an A50 Cambridge in the late 1960s, after my 1960 VW1200 was written off, and while I was waiting for the guilty party's insurance to pay up which took almost a year. The Cambridge was black with red trim, registered OUK 478 and was absolutely worn out, it cost me £15. It proved totally reliable, starting instantly on the handle as it was winter and the battery was not strong enough to crank the cold engine, although the noise from the engine when it had warmed up made you expect a rod through the block anytime, it never happened. After about 5,000 miles in 6 months it left me for a place in the local scrapyard when its MoT certificate ran out.
