Blueish-grey with tan interior - not convinced it is a genuine police car - see tow hook in 3rd thumb. A pretty good and excellently photographed chase sequence in dramatic landscape - seemed like a homage to Alpine sequences in the Italian Job. FX 4095 plate used on at least one of the white Monaros earlier in film (separate page). The blur of red in final thumb is the combine - /vehicle_581469.html - showing how the route of the crash is a goof. |

That looks like 4 door sedan, perhaps Holden Kingswood [HQ]? |

Monaro was only my quick guess - happy for it to be changed with better info. |

In that era the police cars were grey, although I am not certain that this is a genuine police car. Shortly after this they were changed to plain white and I think there are a some white ones in this movie. Most likely NZ assembled. The Holden HQ was one of the biggest selling cars in NZ in the early 1970s. I have a copy of this movie on video - somewhere - which I have not looked at for some time but I remember noticing from the registration plates that the same cars were used in different scenes in different parts of the country. I think this one is most likely a Belmont. The FX series plate dates it to 1971. -- Last edit: 2013-03-19 00:02:39 |

Explanation for tow hook - "three Holdens were used during filming, and such was the low budget of the movie that the Holdens – in full police livery – were also used for towing production equipment and caravans as the crew of 24 travelled through NZ" - Link to "www.aronline.co.uk" . |
