Setting is East Germany, but looks like a Hollywood set:

It must be since the Mercedes has U.S. spec headlights and the bigger 1974+ bumpers.

Looks like the European Village set at Universal.

Only the number-code for East-Berlin is correct here. An absolute goof for wannabe-DDR are the masses of flowers on the left. Fresh flowers are always most problematical to get there, until 1990.

Perhaps the sun didn't shine much on the other side of the Iron Curtain.

Because of their idiotic socialistic economy. Plus the lack of energy. So they didn't wasted water and heating-energy for such useless stuff. No kidding, this was the reality.
Since decades 90% of the fresh flowers in Europe were cultured in the Netherlands (now more and more in China). The DDR had never enough real money, so for flowers of course none al all. Fresh fruits, at least all imported goods were also very hard to get there. Most "popular" was the lack of bananas, coffee and cocoa. This cover of a satiric magazine became legendary: http://blogs.taz.de/hausblog/files/2009/11/zonen-gaby.jpg

Colt? Is it from the USA? Hadn't the Romanian police, at least all Eastern Block cops, Makrarov's?

The quintessence is, that the Moskvich is from all in the DDR available COMECON-made cars, the best choice for rough and unpaved roads, even better than Shiguli and Dacia. But its extremely soft leaf spring suspension can cause some bad oversteering on normal and slightly rougher roads.
The fuel consumption is with 9,7 liters on 100 km acceptable, he said. He said, too, that several "Mossi"-owners would complain about a too high fuel consumption.

No, I was too lazy for that
Also, some countries have multiple time zones (e.g. USA) so you would have to select a time zone rather than a country for that ;)
