![]() a) there was never any LHD-version of this model, or? b) can the headlights be opened, that the light-inlays (looking just round) can be changed? A plate-fellow has purchased such a 1999 Fairlaine, exported as a used car to England. so it got an EU-registration in the UK, but for getting a German road permission it has to have right-traffic-lights with a headlamp beam height control. As it seems, the headlights will become a real problem for that guy... |

Hi ingo - there were never LHD Falcons or Fairlanes made in Australia. I can't answer the 2nd question, sorry. |

@ingo are there any LHD European funeral conversions of Aus Falcons. Coleman Milne have done UK RHD versions, so did any German coachbuilders do the same?? |

@dsl: Coleman Milne turned to Australian Fords when the Scorpio was discontinued. As Davez621 says, the Falcon/Fairlane doesn't exist in LHD and I get the impression that German undertakers all use Benzes anyway. |

@dsl: very unlikely, as there is not any LHD-Aussie Ford at all known. I doubt, if there is any AUS-Ford at all officially registrated here. @Gag: not necessarily Benzes. It's the most common base for funeral cars here (in the last years mainly Vitos and Vianos - making their conversion is not so elaborate as for E- or S-Klassen), but actually all kind of different cars were used for that. Note, that they don't take new cars for that purpose. Animatronixx told me, that often the funeral home-owners organized the cars or vans. Very stingy (or smart) undertakers picked up accident-cars with smashed backs. Why not, as it has to be cutted away anyways? The (not existing any more) company Welsch in Mayen near Koblenz was specialized in that, to take used and damaged car for the conversion. The one and only Audi 100 [Typ44] funeral car (owned by a fellow of Animatronixx) became that for exactly tha reason - the undertaker purchased it cheaply, because of a heavily smashed back. |
