why 220 SE? Not a later 280 SE? |

I cannot see any chrome side strip, hence no 300 [W 112]. The 220 SE had a single exhaust pipe, while the 250 SE upwards had twin exhaust pipes. This has twin exhaust pipes. Most Coupés and Cabriolets had chromed bumpers, but only a few models had extra rubber on the lower one. That was introduced on the "Flachkühler" models, that is versions with the 3.5 litre V8 engine. Hence I believe this is not a 220 SE, but a 1970-71 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 [W 111]. |
