could be Mercedes W110, possible Binz-modification like in this website: http://www.heckflosse.de/sonder/kombi.htm. Binz until today modifies cars to be ambulances, hearses and the like. |

I was thinking about Crayfords... Though I'm not sure they were converting Mercs into Estates this early on. |

I have always thought these models were named "Universal", like here http://www.heckflosse.de/modelle/230Uni.htm . |

I don't think Crayford did fintail conversions, and like ingo my impression is that Universal was low roof only (though happy to be proved wrong). Which leaves Binz, though with the problem of trying to discover what one was doing in UK. Were there any imports? Possibly outside M-B distribution as a specialist conversion direct from Binz?? Also not used by public/NHS hospitals in UK - only for private clinic/hospital?? -- Last edit: 2012-04-28 00:18:21 |

It's not a Crayford, because it isn't awful! By the way, I also think they started harassing Mercedes-Benz cars with Ford hardware during the W114/ W115 era. This one is a plain Binz station wagon, probably used as an ambulance here. |
