1954, and it looks like a 4400 from here. |

Platform from the 1947-55 Advance-Design truck line, with the 1954-55 grille and one-piece windshield. A closer view could help to see if it has the 1953-54 hood side logo or the 1955 one. Without a direct view of this logo, it's impossible to say if it is a 1½-ton 4x00 truck or a 2-ton 6x00 one. If it has the heavy-duty short wheelbase (137"/3.48 m), then it's either a 4100 or a 6100. If it has the medium size wheelbase (161"/4.09 m), then a 4400 or a 6400. It doesn't look like the long (199"/5.05 m) of a 6500 model. |

Some months later... I should have looked a bit better: it has the bumper and the "high hood" of a light-/medium duty truck, meaning a ½-ton to 1-ton model. There was no platform for the ½-ton 3100, but dual rear wheels were optional for both the ¾-ton 3600 and the 1-ton 3800. I see here more likely the 137"/3.48 m wheelbase of a 3800 rather than the 125¼"/3.18 m one of a 3600: that would mean a 3808 Chevrolet model code. |
