I rather think a 1975+ Volvo 244 with the front end of a 264. |

What was up with the Belgian built Volvo 140/240 Series? ![]() Were all/the most Volvos for the West German market built in Belgium, as the Citroen 2 CV for example? Were some visible differences to the Swedish made Volvos? |

I am pretty sure this one is a early Volvo 244 with the so called Export Front. @Ingo, there are no visible differences for Volvos built in Gent Belgium and those built in Torslanda but the luxury versions like Volvo 164, 264, 760 and 960 are built in Sweden (most of them in the Factory of Kalmar) |

In the sixth thumbnail it is possible to see the glove box which got a different button from 1978. Also, when particulary looking at the third thumbnail it is possible to see that the hood/bonnet doesn't have a chrome strip. Instead it has the chrome strip around the head lights and grill, also a feature for 1978+. The wheels indicates 1975-78. But it hasn't got the wider rear lights introduced in 1979. But it has the posh chrome 264 grill. It also has the newer front wing badges that says "VOLVO" instead of e.g. "244 DL", which indicates the front (wings) has been changed at some point or at least it has had a respray to a 1976 colour (colour code 121 Aleutian blue/Medium blue) I think this is a 1978 Volvo 244 DL that has been modified to look as it was a more expensive 264. |
