Thanks for the link :)
Unfortunately our shedule was so fully packed, that a ride in one wasn't possible :( The next time it's probably too late - as masses of Chinese VW Jettas and other Chinese are flooding the country in the last 3 years.
But the Northkoreans didn't like the Chinese stuff, it unreliable, they complain. The want to have "real VWs from Germany", Benzes and BMW. They have said to us: "If we would have real money, we all would like to travel to Germany for shopping"

Still, there's at least one of the legendary thousand left in Pyongyang. The "hardcore public transportation fetishist" caught it in one of his videos (just 24 seconds in). :)

From the Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang's Twitter account:
Quote Still going strong. One of the Volvo's from yr 1974 still unpaid for by DPRK. Running as taxi in Chongjin w almost half million km on odo!

Weasel1984 wrote These Korean Tatras have somewhat strange proportions: http://www.tatraworld.nl/2013/01/04/4774/
Like the rear overhang would be longer than usual, but must be optical illusion I guess (with help of modified rear supsension, mudflaps?).

@Weasel984: a propos "strange proportions": one year ago, in Beaulieu, I had a discussion with Sam Glover, the COMECON-car freak from "Practical Classics"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0s9UU6O9vk
about the legendary, never paid Volvo 144 in the DPRK. I've noticed that, but haven't thought closer about it, but Sam tried to find out more: all, really all of those have a flatter nose. You may think, that the suspension is lower, but actually the front of the bordy was lowered somehow.
Sam had no chance to check a Volvo closer, with an open bonnet, so he is still rummaging about that topic, and why all Volvos have this flatnose, not just a few of them.
We agreed, that this is a very good reason to visit again this fascinating country :king:
Why not, as there already were made trips for planespotters, trainspotters and even tramspotters, so why not for car-freaks either :D
Simon from http://www.koryogroup.com/ is a very capable guy, surely he can arrange something.

And not just Volvos it seems - interesting what is hidden behind it. Local school of customization - north coast style. :sun:

Country not for me, I prefer when rear is a little lower, like it is during acceleration or... when you tow caravan.
