I don't think it is a coupe but might be a four door hardtop Aussie-built Dodge Phoenix. Comments? |

Another possiblity could be an Aussie version of Pontiac ![]() |

I think NZ is right. I think it is a 67/68 Phoenix hardtop |

*Last chance FOR ice cold beer and petrol for A long long time. I couldn't work there or shop there with that incorrect like that. |

Perhaps it's a cocktail - a local equivalent of gin and tonic - and the effects last a long long time before wearing off?? |

Will this help? ![]() /vehicle_53411-Plymouth-Fury-1967.html /vehicle_394524-Pontiac-Catalina-2339-1964.html |

Don't ignore the rest of the text and that's in Down Under. If it's the only opportunity for the mentioned distance, I wouldn't give a sh.. about the wrong orthography. If only one of the two items would be gone in the Outback, I wouldn't feel comfortable. ![]() |

P.S. If I would take care in your way about the correct orthography on shop signs, price charts, menues, even product-packagings, I would famish and die of thirst even in my own home village. ![]() |

Sorry guys it's an Australian made VF Valiant Regal 770 Hardtop see http://www.valiant.org/photos/valiant/VF-regal-770.jpg etc![]() -- Last edit: 2013-10-03 04:53:17 |

and http://www.valiantrestorationservices.com/images/05_5.jpg It might be the later VG 770 Regal Hardtop but the white likely vinyl roof suggest the better equipped Regal rather than the base model or sportier Pacer. See also http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=634403 |

But the C pillar looks wrong for either a Valiant or Dodge and given the dominance of Fords in the movie I wonder if it could be a Ford Galaxie 500 coupe of which there are a few around in West Australia where this move was shot. In any event given whatever it is, there is probably not many of them over here in WA so there is probably another pic of the actual car somewhere on the web |

Hmm perhaps a Oz VG Valiant Mexican Coupe which had the sail plane C panel extensions http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/P5B1UP8VZ8B1AF64/![]() -- Last edit: 2013-10-03 04:56:23 |

BTW I have done the same Perth to Kalgoorlie (and back) road trip featured in the movie many times and all refuelled at the Bullabulling Roadhouse above (but don't recall seeing that hardtop) :-) And I think the shorthand sign gets the message across. The next stop going back to Perth is the equally isolated Yellowdine Roadhouse. |

With an equally misleading sign:![]() - there was no sexy waitress when I called in though the guy who was in the kitchen might be offended by that :-) ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-10-03 05:11:54 |

With that boot overhang perhaps it was a Oz assembled Dodge Phoenix like this http://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/lot/PE3VH8FDI45E4CB0/ ![]() That blue grey is very much an Oz Valiant colour of the time though so I am now just going to have to buy the DVD of the movie to investigate further. -- Last edit: 2013-10-03 04:57:42 |

But it looks like it has headrests that make it more likely the Valiant. |
