I've seen plenty of real 190s in photos of Pyongyang. Of course now that I look the best I can find are http://www.flickr.com/photos/30962199@N08/4486634574/ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/zaruka/4033650764/in/set-72157608054087019 -- Last edit: 2011-09-03 17:09:10 |

Is this a Pyeonghwa 410? According to Korean Wikipedia this car was assembled from 1994-2002 in DPRK. EDIT: See below comment. -- Last edit: 2011-09-04 10:22:27 |

I'd put more trust in http://picasaweb.google.com/birgit1401/DprkAutomobiles#5273452398354155810 because it's written by Erik van Ingen Schenau, who literally wrote the book on North Korean automobiles. He says "Only a couple of prototypes" of the Pyongyang (not Pyeonghwa) 4.10 were made, years before Pyeonghwa Motors was even founded, so there's no connection. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyeonghwa_Motors There used to be an almost entirely untrue article about the North Korean car industry on the English Wikipedia, full of claims that were either wild speculation, misunderstandings or deliberate inventions. I'm pretty sure that the "Pyeonghwa 410" comes from there. P.S. For many years, the North Korean government has bought hundreds of Mercedes-Benzes each year for official use. They're probably the single most common car brand in the country. -- Last edit: 2011-09-04 03:00:11 |

I stand corrected. And what a monumental blunder. Thanks for clarifying ![]() It's probably just a plain W201 then. The grille matches. -- Last edit: 2011-12-06 20:01:54 |
