Sure about a single-deck bus? It looks more like a former fire-truck? |

No it's not a firetruck at all. We've used truck-based firetrucks, this one's clearly a bus. It's just pimped by the people owning it (the youths dressed in red). They are part of the russ celebration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russefeiring I was a russ earlier this year myself. -- Last edit: 2011-08-24 21:31:08 |

But the back is very typical for a fire truck. Shape at all, size of the opening, the integrated ladder, the roof rack. Similar to http://img3.auto-motor-und-sport.de/image-articleOpeningImage-24b2c6-299230.jpg There were longer constructions of these. |

It's not what you think, I guarantee you. The russ would never acquire an old firetruck, because they want a vehicle where as many as possible can be seated for the lowest cost possible (lowest possible by Norwegian standards, that is), and turning a firetruck into a russebuss would be just stupid and time-wasting. The rear is just chopped off and the railings are taken from a wooden porch. These are examples of typical russebusser today: Link to "www.google.no" as you can see, they're old buses resprayed and fitted with as much stereos/loudspeakers and things-bums as possible, because they're supposed to be buses that the russ party in and around. They also compete in these buses. Annually there are ceremonies where a committee ranks the best-looking buses. |

I've got to be honest, I was actually never part of any of that. I recall that I got really drunk once, but not a damn thing happened to me or anyone around me it was much worse with my classmates. |

I think Ingo is right - for once - and this is something like a Carmichael FT/6 fire engine based on Land Rover. |

Hahaha, that made my day - no offense, but dream on! It's something similar to this (hence why I listed it as built in N): http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2717/4256018401_8fd6ec000c.jpg .. just modified, somewhat. These all have front-mounted engines, so you can do pretty much everything you want with the rear compartment. I wish Bø-Viks/Ragnar would return - he knows a lot about these buses. But hey, come around to Norway, preferably Oslo, in April/May next year and see how many ex-firetrucks you can find -- Last edit: 2011-10-04 00:16:19 |

This is a Bus not Firetruck, It has an Repstad (BRK) body most likely from 1979 and it was made for taking passenger and goods. -- Last edit: 2011-10-16 23:15:51 |

When new it was registered to Sirdal og Gyland Bilruter A/S As @Bø-Viks said, it's a Kombinert bil, a Kombi, as @ingo would call it, allowing transport of people and goods, once a common sight on rural bus routes. I don't think @antp has this vehicle class in the system, so list as a Bus. The people are basically standing in the cargo room. |

We can also use the "Bus > Custom" category, even if that is rather for buses customized to special purposes like tour buses. |
