Actually, this is a 5100. 4100's were conventionals, and 5100's were COE's. |

The aspect ratio must be off. Ivan is supposed to be the same model as Mater. |

I have seen the movie multiple times, and Ivan does indeed have a broader stature than Mater. |

Then surely you remember when Holley used the computer to overlay Ivan's front clip with Mater's for a perfect match. Point is, neither of them are COEs. -- Last edit: 2011-07-04 01:55:12 |

If this were a conventional truck the hood would be longer. |

This is a conventional, the angle is bad. |

To Skywatcher68 when I said earlier that Ivan had a broader stature than Mater, I did not mean to say he was a COE, just a larger conventional cab than Mater. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Here are some (albeit low quality) screen captures from the movie. These should prove that it is a conventional cab. I have edited one of them, but only by pasting on a picture from the other part. I did not change the size of anything. Therefore, I also think he could be a ZIL 130, as it is a civilian truck from a Soviet country, just like Ivan is. Also, the shape is similar. ![]() Any thoughts? -- Last edit: 2011-08-05 01:24:05 |

Well...altough 130 seems to be more or less similar to mid 50's Ford F-series (especiallt 500 and 600), I can't remember any 130-based tow truck. |

He is a Chevy for me. |

Yes, I could not find any pictures of 130 tow trucks either. Was towing more of a government job in soviet countries when these were being built? |

No it's a COE, COE trucks of the '30s, '40s &'50s looked WAY different than than from the '60s on up, I strongly suggest you do some research on this. |

Isn't anyone going to replace the main pic? |

*cough* |

Previous pic, not from the movie but showing the truck more closely:![]() |

1955-57, as it has single headlamps. And 3800 chassis-cab models were also available with dual rear wheels. → 1955 Task-Force 'Ivan', without anything else. |

Indeed, the Chevrolet Task Force. Can't be something else. |

I don't think that is a Chevrolet Task Force. Not because I say so but because Pixar itself stated that Ivan's model name in universe is a 1983 Hookov H9. Search it up if you want. There was no other 1950s-styled truck built in the 1980s. As such, as Ivan is meant to be the Russian version of Mater, a Chevrolet Task Force, I'am pretty sure he is indeed a ZIL-130. Come on, the name is a direct refrence to that. In fact, the second prototype of the ZIL-130 built in 1957 was even modelled on the Chevrolet Task Force and GMC Blue Chip, the model Mater is modeled on: ![]() ![]() |

Kryukov is a common given name in Russian and they didn't use it... Built by "РЗЭ - родильный завод эвакуаторы" ![]() -- Last edit: 2025-05-30 16:31:24 |

Also, being a ZIL-130 also explains the fact that Ivan is somewhat larger than Mater, as the ZIL-130 is somewhat larger than a Chevrolet 3800 in real life, and was more similair in size to the Chevrolet 6500 truck. Ivan is a part of cars that are suppossed to be jokes about the Eastern Bloc, he is not a Chevrolet Task Force. An American truck with Yugos and Zastavas? I'am pretty sure the joke here was that Ivan is suppossed to be a Russian copy of Mater, there is so much proof of that. I would like someone to change the 1955 Chevrolet Task Force to 1983 ZIL-130, as he is a 1983 Hookov H9, or 1957 ZIL-130L, which is the name that the ZIL-130 prototype modeled after the Task Force was called. Ivan is a 1983 Russian truck, a ZIL-130, not a Chevrolet Task Force. Yeah it's just a kids movie, but it would be really cool if a ZIL was in an American animated movie, and just because he looks similair to Mater does not mean he is the same model. The joke is that he is a Russian copy of Mater, a Chevrolet Task Force, get over it guys |

I usually do not care about animated movies but I somewhat like the old Russian-copycat trucks. I get your joke. But anyway, seriously, the joke in the movie is supposed to be that Ivan is a Russian knock-off of Mater ![]() -- Last edit: 2025-05-30 16:48:45 |
