Since the film is set in the 1930s, it would be odd to commission a custom-made anachronism. ![]() |

Back end looks like a Dodge WC. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is a "customized" Dodge. -- Last edit: 2011-04-19 01:13:52 |

It says on IMDb and some other places that the film is set in the 1940s, so in that way the Jeep wouldn't be anarchronistic. I would also assume the story is set in a fictional parallel universe where WWII never happened, due to the fact that the Weird carries dual-wielded Walther P38s, which would be completely unavailable for civilians until after the war. That might also explain why the Japanese army and some thugs in the story drive Jeeps. I'm also sure that the general audience would recognise and relate to a Jeep rather than some Kurogane Type 95, which would have been more realistic to the setting. It's also easier to make a Jeep replica than anything else. Also, the movie title contains "The Weird" ![]() |

Good custom movie car because no one knows for sure what it is. Don't think it is Jeep related other than appearance. Track too wide and wheelbase too long for old jeep. Full floater rear end, with spring over axles (small ones at that) and fuel cell in the rear? Hard to tell if 5 lug wheel (Land Rover based?) or 6 (Land Cruiser based?). Appears to be rather modern with a front anti-sway bar. Too long for Series 88 & short for Series 109? Too light duty for any Dodge WC. All the body work appears custom with exception of the windshield frame which could be MB/CJ2 Jeep but the legs are modified for the wider body & cowling. A clear pic of the wheel lug pattern would help. Will be interesting to follow along on this one. |

The size and the rear all match a Jeep cj6 so I think this is a Jeep cj6 modified to look like a Willys MB Jeep. |

Lost the thumbnails... Don't think CJ6 as the wheel base is too short and track too wide. Spring over axles looks stock as well and a full floater rear, neither on the CJ6. Most customs doing this work would eliminate the anti-sway bar too. Any more thumbnails? |
