Not sure - could be checked if anyone can identify year and variant. However real English footballers are infamous for buying blinged up *cough* jewels of automotive engineering such as Escalades and Navigators which were not officially sold here. And quite often crashing them. |

An English footballer wouldn't buy one of these old things ![]() This looks a bit like it was filmed in America (or it's meant to look like America) -- Last edit: 2011-02-15 20:25:07 |

Similar discussion here: /vehicle_284932-Jeep-Cherokee-SJ-1983.html Large scale importing only really started with the XJ Cherokee in 1993 though. |

Featured shift on the move "Select-Trac" part-time four-wheel drive with two-speed dual range transfer case and permanent 50/50 front-to-rear torque distribution. They had front & rear Hotchkiss type live axles for excellent off road tire-to-ground contact force. Approach, departure and ramp breakover angles were 39/20/24, in that order. Wagonmaster (see link) specializes in finding, restoring and selling these classic, collectable rolling works of art. They have had quite a few high profile buyers. http://www.wagonmaster.com/complete.htm Fully restored Grand Wagoneers command a high price. The Grand Wagoneer would be much too classy for such people. They would not know the value of what they were driving. They do seem to be popular with genuinely successful people. You will occasionally find some parked at Microsoft’s headquarters. |

Jeep Cherokee imported to UK from Oct 77. By 1980 S, S V8, Chief, and Golden Eagle were sold, but I don't have exact info beyond 1981. Can't see the distinction .... |

This car isn't really known in Britain and probably very hard to find and this isn't the kind of car a footballer would want anyway (I agree they have more money than sense and no taste). I have never seen one of these over here, not even at classic car shows. I wrote my comment because it seemed almost like dsl was comparing this to Escalades and Navigators which is a bit like comparing a Volvo 240 to a new Chrysler 300C. -- Last edit: 2011-02-16 02:42:20 |
