Zephir Estate, I guess? Seems to be rare, I've never seen an example.

Not Zephyr, but Zodiac.

Ford Zodiac Mk4 Estate converted by Abbotts of Farnham. About 2100 Mk4 conversions done by Abbotts on Mk4s, including Zephyrs alongside Zodiacs and sold through Ford dealers as normal Fords. Introduced Jan 67, but this one has Oct 69 onwards side trim so very new for filming.

The plates in thumbs are a problem for a 1970 film date. AVX xxxL series was issued in Essex May-July 73 and was used by Ford for fleet/photo cars of various types, so look genuine at first glance. However Zodiac production stopped at end of 71 before Consul/Granada intro, so (1) this could be a left over-car which was not registered for 18 months or (2) the plates are faked from AVX 139G, the only other AVX combination which was actually issued in period, but this has 2 problems - why was a plate for 3 years after the film wanted? and AVX xxxG series was issued Aug 68 - June 69, up to a year before this car's trim updates.

As this car is obviously used by the main actors and also in the backlot-scenes, it's probably a faked plate.

P.S. A little sidekick for the DVLA-fans ;) http://img62.imageshack.us/i/img0023ha.jpg/

The vehicle details for AVX 136G are:

Date of Liability 01 02 1986
Date of First Registration 23 01 1969
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3000CC
Vehicle Colour YELLOW

Like the Capri this has an unknown year of manufacture hence I might suggest that they were pre-production models owned by FMC.

Interesting DVLA info and idea of Ford pre-pro fleet. I've seen publicity photos for early Capri Mk1 GT with plate AVX 141G, but can't find it now ... gave me the idea of trying to find out what's in the Ford UK Heritage Collection - seems about 100 cars in a warehouse - might also be useful for eg cars seen in Top Gear etc. Result failed to find full list (or this Zodiac) but lots of forum photos - try http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=130510 and Link to "www.pistonheads.com" . The yellow and black signwritten Transit looked familiar from something recently, plus some Sierra and Escort Cosworths ...

I'm not the biggest Ford lover in the world but there are some awesome pieces of kit in that link. They do seem to pop up in a few shows and magazine spreads as mentioned in the threads.

The blue Sapphire RS Cosworth is lovely.

The film in which this car appeared was No Blade Of Grass. It was a post-apocalyptic story made in 1970, ( I think ) and was plated as a 1973 car to give the impression that in was in the near future.
