1963+ Variant [Typ 34], in USA Squareback Sedan. We've only one listed as 1964 ( /vehicle_350426-Volkswagen-Squareback-Sedan-Typ-36-1964.html , of which I'm not sure it is listed correctly - seems to have the side strip of an S-version), all other US models are 1966 or later, thus too new for this movie. |

I thought the VW Variant, but there are no air intakes for engine cooling on the back side ... |

These early ones were not sold on US-market. They were introduced for the 1966 modelyear. But you could get them as tourist in europe and have them shipped to the US, adapted for US market and delivered through an agency like this: Link to "www.thesamba.com" Probably it shouldn´t be called Squareback Sedan at this point, I think this was invented for 1966 models. Better leave it as Variant since there was no proper US designation for them, and made for US would be ok since they were adapted for export at the factory. |

I see the repeater on the front fender. |

It´s not a repeater, it´s a parkinglight. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/61notchgerman2/page01.jpg |

In this case, it was not used in USA market. |
