I owned one of these. A 1997 model, but the sedan version. It was a horrible rustbucket, after a year the whole rear axle was rusted and the fuel pump was defective (among other things). It lost Diesel and oil at the same time, there was always a large puddle under the car when you had it parked for some time. The German TÜV does also consider these cars as very bad and more prone to rust than the Golf III. |

...and the Golf III is much worse quality that its precessor. The Golf II belongs together with the Audi 80 [B3], the Mercedes 190 [W201] and the Volvo 740 to the most reliabale and durable cars ever. |

This is true. All cars from the Lopez-times, either VW or Opel, have to be strictly avoided. ![]() |
