Idiotic name. I read "flatulence" by the first view. |

It´s also another sedan which isn´t successful in Germany. |

like the Ford Focus Saloon, the Fluence is a typical old mens car... |

I agree, that the Focus Saloon isn´t/wasn´t a successful car. There are so many other Saloons: Dacia Logan, Opel Astra, Passat Sedan, Mondeo Sedan, VW Jetta, Vectra Sedan, ... |

I don't mind a sedan personally sometimes I'd prefer one over the hatchback. In Britain they don't even bother to sell many of them. Of m.pfaffeneder's list only the Jetta and Passat are currently sold in the UK. |

... and Peugeot 306 Sedan - my Dad had a couple and they were actually better to drive than the hatches with same spec - more balanced, quieter and a useful boot size. At the time I was also driving from a fleet of pool cars (Rover 214/414, Cavs, Sierras, Escort/Orion) and in all the other cases felt the hatches were better. Never really understood why this anomaly existed, but for me it was real. |

@ m.pfaffeneder Right, but you can't compare a 8000€ Dacia Logan Saloon with a 25.000€ VW Passat Saloon. In Austria, the Passat Saloon is often used as company car. And i've seen a lot of Opel Vectras/Signums driven by young dudes or young families, cause it looks a bit sporty. Anyway, according to car registration statistics, the latest Opel Astra is very popular in Germany and Austria and there is no Astra Saloon on EU since the disconituation of the Astra G in 2004 at all. But i agree with you, that all these compact car based saloons aren't very popular. -- Last edit: 2011-08-18 22:13:05 |

Small and medium sized Sedans had been popular in Germany for a short while, but with a very very circumscribed locally and customer-applied spreading: after 1990 for older persons in the former DDR (I call it the "Wartburg-Syndrom"). The signal example was the Renault Chamade. Over 90% of the cars, imported to Germany, were sold in the East. -- Last edit: 2011-08-18 22:22:49 |

@blue thunder: There was a Astra H Saloon: Link to "de.wikipedia.org" I don´t compare a Dacia with a Passat, but both have got the same destiny. The Logan MCV is much more popular than the Saloon and the Passat Variant is much more popular than the Passat Saloon/CC. Here in Germany, the majority of agent cars are Estates, Vans or SUV´s. |

@ m.pfaffeneder I thought those Astra H Saloon were only available in South America and East Europa cause small Saloons are quite popular there. But i've checked, you're right, it was available in Germany from 2008-2010. |
