dsl ◊ 2011-02-06 18:12	Looks like a lot of Scottish footage, probably from promo film. 2 cars (2nd in thumbs 11 & 12), however both plates were in series which as far as I can discover were never issued.

The policeman in thumbs 5&6 has probably spotted the dodgy registration plates. Agree about thumb 13/2nd last looking like A82 along loch shore - wonderful scenery but a horrendous road to drive in the summer. The train station in last thumb and thumb 9 is probably Loch Eil, W of Fort William on the rail and A830 route to Mallaig and Skye - a superb journey by either means. Thumbs 11 & 12 with the other car are also west Highlands but can't yet place the distinctive backgrounds.

Or something like that - a horrible mix of HGVs, coaches, tourists, caravans, bikers on a narrow road with lots of blind bends and limited sightlines for overtaking. Each year a few bikers are killed in accidents - further south (Tyndrum-Glencoe) the A82 is very fast with very long straights so the red mist descends and people don't change driving style further along. The A9 into the Highlands has similar problems and another high accident rate, but more open views plus some dualled/overtaking lane sections so less of a constant edge-of-the-seat experience. -- Last edit: 2011-02-07 15:34:28
Ingo ◊ 2011-02-07 15:58	O.k., there is a lot of tourist's traffic on the A82 (though the local truck-drivers are driving quite ...dynamic... also) - but the rest of Scotland (except sometimes a bit around Edinburgh) is the pure paradise for middle-European drivers. Nearly no traffic at all -a few locals and very often you meet, at the lonliest places of the Highlands, the cars, which were beside you on the ferry -, plus the really relaxed and courteous British/Scottish behaviour in the traffic. This nice conditions you'll never find in Germany or anywhere else in Middle Europe. -- Last edit: 2011-02-07 15:58:47
