Popieluszko actually owned/driven one, a green Golf mk1 1,6 Diesel. Pretty rare sight for a communist Poland, you had to be rich or with powerful connections to be able to own one of these. |

Not rare. Well depends where, e.g. in the 1980s Warsaw there were a lot of Golfs. Used ones were owned also by the people, who weren't "so" rich. -- Last edit: 2015-02-11 12:53:45 |

By the end of the 80's VW Golf I wasn't anything special, you could easily buy one at the second hand market and it wasn't so expensive, basic western car. |
