It's supposed to have a very powerful engine and has a significant 3-star role apart from the other 'Gumball-top" Polara's. It's at least worth a few thumbnails. |

Nope. Different timing, degree, length, and duration. Besides you can make just as much power from a 440 as you can from a Hemi...and they did. |

1969-71 Police Polara 440s were rated at 375hp and a 147mph top speed with 3.23 gears.The 72 440 dropped to 335hp and was slower. The slick top was supposed to be a purpose built pursuit car, so for movie sake, should have the older 440 under the hood. Combine that with possibly taller rear gears and the top speed should be well over 150. |

I don't know how true this is, but i heard few times how that interceptor was supposed to have 426 Hemi. Maybe it was just in the script because they never mention it in the film, and i heard from others how in that shot where engine is shown it looks like it's just another 440. |
