In the posting for the 1979 Monte Carlo you can see the side profile of this car. Its not much better a view, though. The nose is from a Shelby Charger. It ALMOST looks like it has the rear-side window of the Tc3, but that could just be the light reflecting off it.Shelby Charges had a large sail panel at the back. The TC3/024 had a taller, vented grille, taking up 3/4 of the nose. This one only covers the very bottom of the low-sloping hood.regular Chargers/Turismos had a double-row grille and 2 headlights on each side. |

Im looking at this now on a different computer with better resolution. I can see the blue stripes now and thicker wheels. Its a Shelby Charger for sure. |

Actually, these were named the Dodge Shelby Charger, as opposed to Charge Shelby. |

Correct, should be Dodge Shelby Charger. |

With Shelby in the make, i.e. "Dodge Shelby" like there is "Ford Shelby", or just as part of the model name? |

Make: Dodge Model: Shelby Charger There were also Dodges that Shelby modified at his Whittier factory and are pre-title cars, meaning that Shelby is considered to be the manufacturer, and the cars were originally titled as "Shelby's". On this forum you can reference Shelby: GLHS, Shelby: Lancer, or Shelby: Dakota to see some of these cars. |

The Dodge Shelby Charger was first released to dealerships halfway through 1983 thus called the 83 1/2's. The main visable differences between the 83 1/2 and the 84 model years was the rear tailights was different.1985 was the first year that the vehicle had turbocharged engines. ( very identifiable by the hood bulge and grill )1987 was the last model year and it was within that year Shelby had his own version known as the Charger GLH-S -- Last edit: 2014-01-01 14:15:52 |
