The correct nomenclature is Astra L 1300 S, not Astra 1300S L. There's a space between 1300 and L if you look at the badge itself (1200 illustrated). |

I was going off the brochures. They list the motor first and then the trim level. Here is the link. -- Last edit: 2024-09-16 16:53:00 |

The headers on the brochure and the plates say Astra L, Astra GL etc. The engine capacity comes after. |

For database purposes we should align them all to read the same. I can go back through then unless you have? |

That's what I do on pretty well everything, not just Vauxs or Astras. |

It depends on the order things are written on the back, here it's clearly Astra L and then 1300 S on a different location. For later ones, such as this Astra Mk3, Astra 2.0i appear together and can be listed as such, while the trim level is displayed separately on the front fender and as such is added as a suffix. Honda is a more well-known example where the trim level precedes the engine. |

Personally I list things the way said by dsl too. Looks tidier, and badging on cars could be inconsistent throughout their career or even partially or totally absent, and brochure headers usually indicate just the trim because they illustrate the trim level, but in price lists they often (like here) put motor and then trims. However those are just my 2 cents and in this case I have no problems either way anyway, following strictly badging, newer Vauxhalls should be listed eg. 2.0 DTI 16V and not 2.0DTi 16v, or the Lancia Delta [836] with the Greek character instead of Delta |
