Info received by e-mail:

Quote In the movie "Delirious" starring John Candy (1991), John is driving
what appears to be a Ferrari 250 GTO. The car figures prominently
into the story line. It is, in fact, a Classic Sports Cars (GB)
conversion. In the late 1980s, Classic Sports Cars converted Datsun
240Z/260Z/280Z s into copies of Ferrari 250 GTOs. This practice was
stopped by court order in 1989. Several items give away the Datsun
origin: When the car door is opened, the polished window frame that
opens with the door is pure Datsun, not GTO. Also the interior of
the car was not altered and is readily apparent to anyone who ever
owned at Z car.

there were two of these created for the movie, one of which is for sale on ebay now:

the basis was a 1975 280z. although some of the information emailed in and quoted above is correct, i'll add some comments provided by the current seller below, and the personal observation that the interior of this car was indeed quite modified from the stock z interior, unlike some of the other z based ferrari replicas of the era.

from the auction:

"...ONE OF TWO VEHICLES, CALIFORNIA GTO 250'S, BUILT BY TOM MCBURNIE, OF MCBURNIE COACHCRAFT AND THUNDER RANCH... AFTER FILMING, THE CAR WAS SOLD TO THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS MUSEUM, IN GATLINBURG, TN. THIS UNIQUE AUTOMOBILE HAS BEEN DISPLAYED IN THE MUSEUM SINCE 1992. NEVER TITLED FOR THE STREET, THE ODOMETER REFLECTS THE 134 ORIGINAL MILES... ONLY TWO UNITS WERE BUILT FOR THE MOVIE, AND THE LOCATION OF THE SECOND MOVIE CAR IS UNKNOWN. MCBURNIE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE DESIGNER OF THE CALIFORNIA DAYTONA SPYDER, WHICH WAS USED IN THE '80'S TELEVISION SERIES "MIAMI VICE." UNRESTORED SINCE THE CONCLUSION OF MOVIE FILMING, THE PATINA AND ORIGINALITY FROM 1991 ARE STILL PRESENT. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF EXPENSIVE, RARE, ORIGINAL, PERIOD CORRECT PARTS HAVE BEEN UTILIZED IN THIS BUILD. THE CAR HAS BEEN VERIFIED BY MR. MCBURNIE, AND HE HAS PROVIDED NUMEROUS ORIGINAL PHOTOS AND VEHICLE HISTORY, WHICH GO WITH THE CAR."

Looks that way, with some minor trim differences.
