chris40 ◊ 2009-03-13 22:12	@Kooshmeister: I'm guessing here but Bedford RLs don't have aircon in the cab (I don't know about Unimogs), and it may be that the water doesn't get so warm there. I can't think of any reason why they might be sandbags; sort of carrying coals to Newcastle, that would be.

They are waterbags and they are hanging fro mthe bumpers to be a bit cooled by the air while driving. It was usual for cars without AC. And these bags are made from leather, because if you take rubber- or plastic-made bags, the water inside gets mouldy very quickly.
