This is the one that makes Dixie Boy go BOOM! -- Last edit: 2006-03-23 08:06:15 |

And it is hauling liquid oxygen... |

In one of your pictures antp, if you click on it and look at the far right corner, is that light gold truck up there a Kenworth K100? |
◊ 2006-06-10 01:36 |
No, thats in fact the GMC Astro they use later on(day 2). Here u can see it w/a box trailer instead of the grain trailer. |
◊ 2006-06-10 01:38 |
I allways thought that liquid oxygen under pressure is explosive when heated up. |
explorer4x4 ◊ 2006-06-10 01:39 |
Ya, I think it is but it sounds weird. "Air just blew up my truck stop!" |
◊ 2006-06-10 14:54 |
Well, liquid gas isn`t just "air". When u heat up a liquid that`s supposed to be several hundred degrees below zero(Nitrogen, e.t.c.), then the fumes can be quite explosive. -- Last edit: 2006-06-10 14:55:41 |

What does this truck do? And what company does it stand for? |
◊ 2006-06-12 11:36 |
On the tanker it says: LIQUID OXYGEN. This on drives thru the backwall of Dixie Boy(on the picture), causeing a gas-leak from the tanker and makes the whole facility blow up. |

it's a 1971 |

Now I know that compressed, Liquified Air can blow a building in half |

It is LOX and not air. It is transported in a double lined tank (like a thermos) and kept cold so is not at a particularly high pressure. Here is what a small cylinder can do to a pickup truck if misused and is allowed to heat up and explode. http://www.cdc.gov/elcosh/docs/d0500/d000585/1.jpg -- Last edit: 2007-03-13 22:05:54 |

They actally did a neat trick on "Brainiac". What they did was emptying a bucket of LOX onto a bed inside a caravan, and then set the bed on fire. Now, what happend to the caravan, was extremely similar to what happend to Dixie Boy. |

It should be listed as a '72 Freightliner, as Freightliner offered Fancy a wide 2 Bumper like that in '72 & that was the only year the truck up above also has that so, there for the truck is a 1972 Freightliner |
4x4 23 ◊ 2009-09-27 22:49 |
Yse, it sure is, I think that was a back round truck |
◊ 2009-10-07 04:16 |
smaller trailer less flamible |

no 4x4 23, this truck was not a 1972 Freightliner FLT-7564, infact it's a 1970 FLT-7564, because the the truck has an early 70's cab, but has single round headlights & the only yer the had that was 1970, this truck has both the early 70's Cab & the Single Round Headlights there for this truck is a 1970 Freightliner FLT-7564 |

there's another freightliner in white with a red stripe, its only seen in two short scenes at night. |
◊ 2012-03-25 06:10 |
BM is correct! it's a 1970 Freightliner FLT-7564 |
◊ 2022-02-15 17:48 |
Correct, this is a Freightliner FLT, but this is definitely NOT a 1970. Up until 1977, all Freightliner Trucks had the "White-Freightliner" Badge on the air-intake and were classified as WFTs. From 1977 to 1983 the Freightliner FLTs were re-branded, and had just "Freightliner" on the air intake. This truck doesn't have the "White" present on it's intake grill, thus the earliest it could be is a 1977 Freightliner FLT. So this isn't a White-Freightliner WFT; this is just a Freightliner FLT. 1977-1983 Intake Badge (FLT) ------------ Pre-1977 Intake Badge (WFT) -- Last edit: 2022-02-16 04:11:59 |

This confirms it then, this is a 1977-1983 Freightliner FLT. I highly doubt this is a post 1983 FLT. -- Last edit: 2022-03-17 15:13:16 |

This was not a 1977-1983 FLT. It has the earlier style door handles, which ended in 1974. It had the 61 series raised narrow cab (Identifiable by the single strip in grill with a tall lower grill). The 61 series cab was not made beyond 1978 or 1979. This truck has an earlier style heater intake, and it also has a raised filler neck fuel tank which was outlawed in 1972. It has a fresh air grille on the right cab front, so it's a 1970 model. As for the front ram engine air inlet emblem, it was a common thing for White-Freightliners to be rebadged later in life as Freightliners because that was a newer nameplate. Looks like an 86 inch cab, so it is most likely a WFT-8664. Could be a 75 inch cab though, which would make it a WFT-7564. Doesn't matter much anyway because it was blown to smithereens. |

You're definitely right K Dubble u, the Freightliner rebadge is also confirmed when the truck smashes into the kitchen area. The Freightliner name plate actually falls off, and the hole that is revealed matches up with an original White-Freightliner badge plate. I've looked up everything that you've presented and it seems to match up. I also believe that the cab is an 86-incher from all the stills I've taken from the movie. Based on the correct identifications, it should be listed a 1970 White-Freightliner WFT-8664 then. |

Here are all of the angle shots of this truck. The last one is the last shot shown of the tanker before it blew up, along with the whole Dixie Boy Set. |

To confirm, its is a 1970 White-Freightliner WFT-8664T, as even though the logo says Freightliner, it's possible it's a White Freightliner, just with a regular Freightliner Logo attached. |
