DS 19 most likely, on Parisien plates. Although, being a Taxi, could be the more basic ID. -- Last edit: 2009-02-11 10:00:00 |

No it's not an ID, wheel covers, roof & pillar paint belong to a DS 19 '60-'62. Note also the air outputs (cendriers) on the fenders.. |

Bear in mind that this is a studio set, not a real Paris location. http://home.arcor.de/simon.templar/saint/studio.htm |

Indeed the cendriers were on DS models only. Also note the small vertical gearshifter. Acording to Gags link, this scene was filmed in the UK, but the car is LHD and has US type indicators and sealed beam headlamps... |

Could this US-spec DS from A Shot in the Dark (filmed in part at MGM British Studios and locations in England) be the same car? /vehicle_20739-Citroen-DS-19-1960.html |

Looks very similar, indeed. |

An excellent theory indeed!!! Well done! It pays to be a fan of Sixties television and film to put all the clues together! Incidentally, the fake Paris plates were used repeatedly in episodes of the entire "The Saint" series set in France. The color series stories "A Better Mousetrap" and "To Kill a Saint" are only two episodes that come to mind immediately. -- Last edit: 2023-05-15 09:04:20 |
