Here´s the list of episodes in colour, with their first release dates in UK, taken from Imdb. I´ve just gone through the first DVD-box of these episodes, and the episodes don´t follow the same order as the original broadcast. The first box cover productions of 1966 and 1967, the whole 5th season and some episodes from the 6th. I guess it´s better to keep the original season index rather than that on the DVD. I´ll make a separate list for the order on the DVD discs instead.

Eternal question: shouldn't the white Volvo 1800 S get 5 stars? Has been sold as toy, has been the commercial object for the swedish make (Jaguar refused the deal with the production), has possibly the most famous registration nr. all time for a "Car Star"...

But which one? As there are two listed. Though I would only list it once and mention that several models were used, like was was done for MrBean's mini (among others).

I agree. Definitely if the model remains the same (1800 S) through all the seasons.

I don´t agree to that, even if the model was basically the same through the years three generations with noticeable differences were used. And in MrBean two different Minis are listed.

About the stars, I´m ok with giving it five stars. It became more or less synonymous with The Saint, even if it maybe from a plot point of view is four stars.

But they are visually different (already the color :D also 7 years and the make of the car is different), not just 1 year of difference

Even if the colour is the same of the cars, and slightly more discrete :D compared to those Minis, there are differences in trim and grille. If we count the original car, there are even more differences and the range of years run up to 5 or 6, so I think it´s worth keeping them on different pages. Altough I admit at first glance they appear very similar :)

and by the time templar gets the Jaguar..the ST1 numberplate on this car is a fake...ST1 plate on the Volvo was an original number for the vehicle..after filming the numberplate was sold, and by the time the Ogilvy series came about the plate was being used on a private car in the UK and the producers tried to no avail to hire the plate back for use on the Jaguar, but the owner refused, and as the producers wanted the Jag to have an ST1 plate, they had to film the Ogilvy series outside the UK, as they could not legally run the Jag with a fake ST1 plate on British roads.

In eps 1.04, 1.05 and 2.07 the aircraft is a Boeing 707 in Pan American livery (perhaps the same stock footage?). The amphibian in eps 5.22 is a Grumman G-21 Goose. Eps 2.10: the first two thumbnails show a Bristol Britannia in Bristol Aeroplane Company colours while thumbnails 4 & 5 show another Britannia in BOAC livery. Thumbnail 5 shows a Vickers Viscount belonging to BEA in the foreground with a de Havilland Heron to its right. I can't make out the aircraft in the background. In eps 2.13 the floatplane is a de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter.

One day I hope to see a car I can identify. :)

I think the sedan is a Wolseley Ten, 1939+. The Ford looks like an Anglia [100E], 1957+, with a non-stock paint job.

With the rally cars in episode 6.20, there seems to be a mixture of pretend cars at a mock-up of the RAC Rally with various thumbnail pictures (eg Rover 2000 or 1st thumb in Austin Mini Cooper S) which could be genuine RAC Rally footage from 1966 or 1967.

2.13 To add to Greybear's excellent input above...
the floatplane on the water in the episode is not an Otter, but a pre-war Fairchild 71.
Doing an internet search of the registration CF-BJE, I see it was featured in a 1941 spy film, "The Intruders".
Obviously a bit of stock film, so in "The Saint", the Otter magically turned into a Fairchild on landing.

Hi Jean-Marc, with reference to your list of Saint tv-series & movies.
You have missed several TV-movies made in the late 80's starring Simon Dutton (I have/had? some of these recorded on vhs) ;)

Here I found an article at:
Collectible Automobile, Volume 35 Number 3:
For Fun and Profit: The Story of the 1961-73 Volvo 1800
Halo Car: How a Volvo P1800 Got Cast on The Saint, page 42

Collectible Automobile wrote Perhaps the best publicity campaign and automaker could have hoped for fell into Volvo's lap when a British film company created a television series based on the "Saint" novels. Airing from 1962 to 1969, The Saint followed the adventures of Simon Templar -- Portrayed by Roger Moore -- a debonair Robin Hood taking the ill-gotten gains of exploiters to win some justice for the exploited, even if it required testing the limits of the law. If this saint had any constant companion, it was his white Volvo P1800 coupe.

Why, exactly, did this properly British character have a Swedish sport coupe? The producers' attempts to secure a Jaguar E-Type or a Mercedes-Benz were thwarted by long waiting lists and the unwillingness of those manufacturers to supply a car for more than a single day. A London policeman told one of the show's producers of seeing new sporty car called a Volvo. The producer in turn told Moore, who immediately found the London distributor and arranged for a P1800 to be delivered to the set the next day. Volvo even supplied additional "partial" cars for interior studio takes.

A total of 118 episodes were filmed and appeared weekly on TV sets around the world, free advertising that exposed the P1800 to countless families. (Among the show's impressionable young viewers like Håkan Samuelsson, now president and CEO of Volvo Cars -- and an 1800 owner.) Today that exposure would cost millions in TV advertisements, and would not be nearly as effective as watching Roger Moore buzzing around the English countryside and other European locales in his P1800 every week.

After a few years of episodes it was time for The Saint trade his '62 for a newer model. Moore himself brought and registered the 1967 1800S that first appeared in an episode entitled "A Double in Diamonds" that was filmed in February '67. Among its features were Mini-Lite sports wheels, Hella fog lights, and Volvo-accessory wood-rim steering wheel. The car served the series until the end of its run two years later.

This second Saint car with front license plate ST-1 subsequently changed hands several times before it was purchased and restored by Saint historian Bill Krzastek of Virginia. A few years ago Volvo Cars purchased the vehicle, which had found a permanent home in the Volvo Heritage Collection. According to Volvo, the car retains a couple souvenirs of its small-screen stardom, a dashboard-mounted thermometer and a discreetly placed fan that served to cool actors working under hot lights during studio filming.

Like its fictional driver, the Saint car has been known to get around the Continent a bit. In March 2018 Volvo brought it to the Techno-Classica Essen vintage-car show in Germany, where it appeared with several other P1800 rarities.

I came here to find the car used in S6E16 (Vendetta for the Saint). I'm quite surprised nobody has listed it yet. I think it's an MG but not so sure. There weren't many red cars used in the final series, so I thought this would stick out like a sore thumb.

@QuijNK58FBJreQV0AI3d - Do you have a star rating for the car you submitted three times?

Never realized that no one has ever done Seasons 3 or 4 of this title (Or should I say realised due to it's origin?)

Although it was the tv producers who put Simon Templar in a P1800 / 1800S, it seems his creator Leslie Charteris liked Volvos too.
