Here´s the list of episodes in colour, with their first release dates in UK, taken from Imdb. I´ve just gone through the first DVD-box of these episodes, and the episodes don´t follow the same order as the original broadcast. The first box cover productions of 1966 and 1967, the whole 5th season and some episodes from the 6th. I guess it´s better to keep the original season index rather than that on the DVD. I´ll make a separate list for the order on the DVD discs instead. Season 5, Episode 1: The Queen's Ransom 30 September 1966 Season 5, Episode 2: Interlude in Venice 7 October 1966 Season 5, Episode 3: The Russian Prisoner 14 October 1966 Season 5, Episode 4: The Reluctant Revolution 21 October 1966 Season 5, Episode 5: The Helpful Pirate 28 October 1966 Season 5, Episode 6: The Convenient Monster 4 November 1966 Season 5, Episode 7: The Angel's Eye 11 November 1966 Season 5, Episode 8: The Man Who Liked Lions 18 November 1966 Season 5, Episode 9: The Better Mousetrap 25 November 1966 Season 5, Episode 10: Little Girl Lost 2 December 1966 Season 5, Episode 11: Paper Chase 9 December 1966 Season 5, Episode 12: Locate and Destroy 16 December 1966 Season 5, Episode 13: Flight Plan 23 December 1966 Season 5, Episode 14: Escape Route 30 December 1966 Season 5, Episode 15: The Persistent Patriots 6 January 1967 Season 5, Episode 16: The Fast Women 13 January 1967 Season 5, Episode 17: The Death Game 20 January 1967 Season 5, Episode 18: The Art Collectors 27 January 1967 Season 5, Episode 19: To Kill a Saint 24 February 1967 Season 5, Episode 20: The Counterfeit Countess 3 March 1967 Season 5, Episode 21: Simon and Delilah 24 March 1967 Season 5, Episode 22: Island of Chance 7 April 1967 Season 5, Episode 23: The Gadget Lovers 21 April 1967 Season 5, Episode 24: A Double in Diamonds 5 May 1967 Season 5, Episode 25: The Power Artist 19 May 1967 Season 5, Episode 26: When Spring Is Sprung 2 June 1967 Season 5, Episode 27: The Gadic Collection 22 June 1967 Season 6 Season 6, Episode 1: The Best Laid Schemes 29 September 1968 Season 6, Episode 2: Invitation to Danger 6 October 1968 Season 6, Episode 3: Legacy for the Saint 13 October 1968 Season 6, Episode 4: The Desperate Diplomat 20 October 1968 Season 6, Episode 5: The Organisation Man 27 October 1968 Season 6, Episode 6: The Double Take 3 November 1968 Season 6, Episode 7: The Time to Die 10 November 1968 Season 6, Episode 8: The Master Plan 17 November 1968 Season 6, Episode 9: The House on Dragon's Rock 24 November 1968 Season 6, Episode 10: The Scales of Justice 1 December 1968 Season 6, Episode 11: The Fiction Makers: Part 1 8 December 1968 Season 6, Episode 12: The Fiction Makers: Part 2 15 December 1968 Season 6, Episode 13: The People Importers 22 December 1968 Season 6, Episode 14: Where the Money Is 29 December 1968 Season 6, Episode 15: Vendetta for the Saint: Part 1 5 January 1969 Season 6, Episode 16: Vendetta for the Saint: Part 2 12 January 1969 Season 6, Episode 17: The Ex-King of Diamonds 19 January 1969 Season 6, Episode 18: The Man Who Gambled with Life 26 January 1969 Season 6, Episode 19: The Portrait of Brenda 2 February 1969 Season 6, Episode 20: The World Beater 9 February 1969 -- Last edit: 2006-08-24 21:32:54 |

Ep 5:22 |
◊ 2006-11-27 14:12 |
Eternal question: shouldn't the white Volvo 1800 S get 5 stars? Has been sold as toy, has been the commercial object for the swedish make (Jaguar refused the deal with the production), has possibly the most famous registration nr. all time for a "Car Star"... |
◊ 2006-11-27 16:41 |
But which one? As there are two listed. Though I would only list it once and mention that several models were used, like was was done for MrBean's mini (among others). |
◊ 2006-11-27 16:43 |
I agree. Definitely if the model remains the same (1800 S) through all the seasons. |
◊ 2006-11-27 22:40 |
I don´t agree to that, even if the model was basically the same through the years three generations with noticeable differences were used. And in MrBean two different Minis are listed. About the stars, I´m ok with giving it five stars. It became more or less synonymous with The Saint, even if it maybe from a plot point of view is four stars. |
◊ 2006-11-27 23:03 |
But they are visually different (already the color also 7 years and the make of the car is different), not just 1 year of difference |
◊ 2006-11-27 23:45 |
Even if the colour is the same of the cars, and slightly more discrete compared to those Minis, there are differences in trim and grille. If we count the original car, there are even more differences and the range of years run up to 5 or 6, so I think it´s worth keeping them on different pages. Altough I admit at first glance they appear very similar |
◊ 2006-12-02 22:47 |
But in Seventies'remake(roled by Ian Ogilvy)Jaguar Cars will gift Simon Templar of a brand new XJ-S(Corgi Toys does also the model miniature of that, with"Saint"logo reproduced on bonnet--that feature only on model car,of course) |

Episodes 6:11-12 comes from one of the films about The Saint, The Fiction-makers, produced 1966 but not released until late 1968. Release date for both the film and the first tv-episode is december 8 1968 according to Imdb, I wonder if that is correct? I see now that we already had this film here: /movie_61662-The-Fiction-Makers.html -- Last edit: 2007-06-19 15:08:39 |

and by the time templar gets the Jaguar..the ST1 numberplate on this car is a fake...ST1 plate on the Volvo was an original number for the vehicle..after filming the numberplate was sold, and by the time the Ogilvy series came about the plate was being used on a private car in the UK and the producers tried to no avail to hire the plate back for use on the Jaguar, but the owner refused, and as the producers wanted the Jag to have an ST1 plate, they had to film the Ogilvy series outside the UK, as they could not legally run the Jag with a fake ST1 plate on British roads. |

In eps 1.04, 1.05 and 2.07 the aircraft is a Boeing 707 in Pan American livery (perhaps the same stock footage?). The amphibian in eps 5.22 is a Grumman G-21 Goose. Eps 2.10: the first two thumbnails show a Bristol Britannia in Bristol Aeroplane Company colours while thumbnails 4 & 5 show another Britannia in BOAC livery. Thumbnail 5 shows a Vickers Viscount belonging to BEA in the foreground with a de Havilland Heron to its right. I can't make out the aircraft in the background. In eps 2.13 the floatplane is a de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter. One day I hope to see a car I can identify. |

With the rally cars in episode 6.20, there seems to be a mixture of pretend cars at a mock-up of the RAC Rally with various thumbnail pictures (eg Rover 2000 or 1st thumb in Austin Mini Cooper S) which could be genuine RAC Rally footage from 1966 or 1967. -- Last edit: 2010-08-01 19:13:11 |

2.16 Westland Widgeon 2.19 Boeing 707 2.20 Sud Caravelle 2.13 To add to Greybear's excellent input above... the floatplane on the water in the episode is not an Otter, but a pre-war Fairchild 71. Doing an internet search of the registration CF-BJE, I see it was featured in a 1941 spy film, "The Intruders". Obviously a bit of stock film, so in "The Saint", the Otter magically turned into a Fairchild on landing. -- Last edit: 2010-10-10 05:34:45 |
