That particular truck had the V10 engine. |

umm no the ram only got the v 10 in 04 |

The Ram had the V10 in the late 90's as a option |

I remember when i was like 5 or 6 when this movie came out, and the 1st time I saw this movie I was absolutly in the love with this truck, and almost cried when it went into the tornado in the end. |

The Ram had the V10 with the 1994 re-design. I think it has a V10, because it definately dont have the Cummins diesel, I wish it woulda.... Found proof, it did have a V10, even if it was a 1994. I call this truck a 1994 Dodge Ram 2500 with the V10. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_LA_engine#Ram_Tough_V10 -- Last edit: 2007-01-08 14:59:14 |

I'm pretty sure this is a 1995 dodge ram. this truck was "new" in the film, and filming started in late 1995. they used the ram 1500 and the 2500 as stunt vehicle. I Agree with Carfan. -- Last edit: 2007-06-19 21:59:08 |

The V10 was only available in the 2500 and 3500 series. Someone said there was a 1500 used as a stand-in truck, which would have been V8 powered...either 5.2 or 5.9 liter Magnum. The main truck, however, is a 2500, of which many had the V10. |
◊ 2008-02-13 04:10 |
Light marker on the hood could indicates 3500 4x4. With the 3500 series usually contains DRW (dual rear wheel), but this model has 4 x 4. In this case, it is SRW (single rear wheel) form. The light marker on the hood usually required to display with certain weight exceed light truck class. |
◊ 2008-02-15 03:05 |
The one depicted as the main vehicle is definitely a 2500. Likely a V10. It is a Club Cab, 4X4, SLT. |
◊ 2008-02-15 03:07 |
Just curious, but do you own a Dodge Diesel Jim? |
◊ 2008-02-15 03:15 |
Not yet. However, I would like to obtain a 1998-2002 style or 2003-2005 style 3500 as a project truck with the 5.9L Cummins. Mainly do some internal modifications so I can take it to events like sled pulls, drags, etc. It'll have to wait for a while though. Right now, I am looking for a good used 1500 as a daily driver, not to mention University expenses coming up in the next couple of years. |
◊ 2008-03-06 04:07 |
I used to hate these trucks til I saw this one in this movie now I really want it. Its too bad that when dodge restyled these in '94 that they revamped the whole engine and driveline. the earlier years of this style seem to suck mechanicly but they still look awsome. |
◊ 2008-03-18 02:46 |
This probably might have a v10, but if not it would have the 360 V8.......... |
◊ 2008-05-08 00:19 |
Same Here! I was probably 5 when i first saw this movie, and before i saw it I didn't know anything about Dodge Rams. Also, and i know its just a movie but if this truck was a 4x4, why didnt they use the 4WD instead of 2WD to get off of the tree that was stuck underneath the truck? |
◊ 2008-05-25 06:30 |
Without a doubt this by far the best set of wheels in the entire movie. |
◊ 2008-06-30 05:53 |
OK ANSWER TO ALL YOUR QUESTIONS Trust me I know this movie by heart and the truck too. Dodge Ram 2500 V10 (8.0L) Red 1995 Model, Ext. Cab (2 doors with a back seat) 4x4 SLT Larime 8 foot bed (They came in 6 feet and 8 feet and this truck had an 8 foot bed) This truck WAS NOT a V8 and I can prove it. Look it up and when the truck is stuck on the log and you hear Jo say "Oh my god" Look at the side of the truck it clearly says DODGE RAM 2500 V10 |

this 1995 dodge ram was nice looking vehicle anyway this truck went into house in the middle road |

I was nine when this movie came out and it has been my favorite movie ever since. Mainly because in January of '95 my dad brought home a brand new, restyled, black '95 Ram 1500 5.9L with everything but a cd player and leather seats...and I was immediately in love. It was the first new anything my family ever owned and it was given to me when I turned 16. I remember being glued to the tv watching the movie for the fist time, imagining myself behind the wheel of my truck driving through an exploding tanker (my favorite part). I grew up wanting to be a storm chaser lol. My uncle, dad's brother also a mopar freak, went out and bought a red Ram just like the one in the movie after it was released. We're all crazy...I can thank my father and this movie for making me the die hard ram fan that I am. My truck is 13 now and you can say what you want about Rams; the proof is still sitting in my driveway and runs just like it always has with no problems. But I'd never put mine into a tornado Whether it had the 5.9 gasser or V10 makes no difference to me, it's still a bad ass truck and was the mascot for the new Rams back then, and Dodge has not stopped chomping at the bit ever since. Love this truck, and love this movie. BTW...in some scenes the truck does have 5 lugs, you can count them...and some it has 8. Marker lights are available after market, it's not hard to modify. Most movie makers don't expect the viewers to go counting the lug nuts lol |

when i first saw this truck in the movie i fell in love with it and love the part when they are going down the dirt road and hitting the huge water hole. just seeing that part makes me want to take out my 95 ram and do that. i loved that truck so much that when i turned 16 i bought a red one just like it.(took a long time to save all that money. parents helped out a bit also) me being 17 now i baby mine and would cry if that stuff happened to my ram. mine has the v10 and i couldnt be happier. DODGE RULES!!!!! |
◊ 2008-12-19 22:36 |
I absolutely LOVE this movie and this truck like most of you, and I just wanted to say one thing about it. I looked up Twister on IMDB and saw in the goofs, this: Continuity: The truck is consistently a Dodge Ram, but different models, as noted by different wheel styles. The opening shot shows a model 1500, then later a 2500, then back to a 1500. So you see? It's both a 1500 AND a 2500. I have had the pleasure lately of the first time driving one of these beauties, to move it from one spot to another behind the shop where I work, and I gotta say...I just LOVE it more! I want one as bad as the rest of you Dodge lovers wanting one too. |

Hello Ford_guy! Thank you for the welcome. I noticed you said you have a knowledge of police-package vehicles. I own 2 ex-CVPIs and I love them both. One is a '97 and the other is an '04. The '04 handles a bit stiffer than the '97 but otherwise, to me, they feel the same. The '97 was bought about 5 years ago and the '04 was bought recently. I bought it back in May at a dealership in Lindsay, Ontario. But in addition to those, I also have SEVERAL other Fords in my farmyard. I love it. It's heaven. LoL. Anywho, I gotta jet. Diz truck went thru hell in diz movie. I almost started cryin wen it waz taken away by da F5 tornado in da end. But till diz day i still watch da movie twister nd i think itz still awsome. Anywayz, whoever said diz truck haz a v10 engine, den u hit da jackpot cuz u guyz r correct! There iz alot of scenes in da movie dat u can clearly c on da door Dodge Ram 2500 v10. Trust me. I noe diz movie nd truck very well. Also in diz movie there iz 2 typez of truckz used. Da 1500 nd da 2500. Even tho da 1500 series doezn't bring da marker lightz on da roof u cud add dem. Datz wat u call power of placement product. So itz both types of trucks used in diz movie! =) |

Hey guys, I contacted Hadler Relations, who does all of the Chrysler vehicle leases for Hollywood including Twister. The very nice lady there told me that all of the Dodge Ram trucks 1500/2500 were all crushed after filming wrapped. Also all of the engine sound of the Ram heard in the movie was from the 5.9 V8 motor as the V10 sounds different. |
◊ 2010-10-09 03:11 |
They crushed them all? That kinda hurts me in a way. Im not a Dodge guy but that truck was awesome. Didnt they use like 5 or 6 trucks for that movie? Did they ever make a diecast model of that truck or some custom make one? |
◊ 2010-10-31 06:52 |
This Ram may not be in a museum, but there is a certain 1997 Mercedes-Benz ML320 in the Mercedes-Benz museum in Germany. My other dream car from The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The V6 was slightly smaller than the V10 that was in this movie though (but I bet it could get off a log) |
◊ 2010-10-31 09:25 |
It doesn't surprise me terribly that they would have destroyed them: They were probably new vehicles on loan, and Chrysler wouldn't have been able to resell these used (and abused) trucks to the public after the completion of the film, due to vague "liability" concerns. This is likely the same fate the "Vanishing Point" Challengers suffered. |
◊ 2010-12-21 20:32 |
well,I think that the Dodge Ram 2500 is a Diesel V8 truck because i investigated about it in Wikipedia |

I Think too that the Dodge Ram 2500 from the 1995 was very cool in the movie because it is my dream car too!!!!!!!!! Besides,I'm a fan who likes that movie too because of the cars, music, type of tornadoes, and the characters. But the tornado I liked was the last one"The F5" because it is huge, and the Dodge Ram 2500 because of the machine in the rear |

I like this truck, this Dodge Ram model before they redesigned them in 2001 or 2002. Before I saw this movie(I was 8 years old when I saw this film in theaters with my aunt and uncle) I didn't appreciate these Rams and I wanted to see more of that yellow Jeep pickup which I was a little sad for that Jeep pickup after it was thrown from that tornado. But this Ram seemed to fill the void very well and made me like and appreciate these Ram models ever since. So sad that this truck was destoryed at the end of the film. And as for the new Rams of today, there are good trucks but I rather prefer these models of the current ones of today. |

Selling customers abused vehicles, then having them returned to them for defects. It could be considered "brand liability," but it could also be personal liability, especially if the vehicle's safety equipment was compromised in any way with the abuse by the film crew. |

(TEARS of SUN) you have no knowledge on automobiles, they've been putting the v-10 engine in dodge rams since the early 90's,it was based off the vipers v-10 just not as powerfull, kinda like the silverados 6.0 as the 6.0 gto,and yes the ram in the movie had the v-10!!!! |

◊ 2012-05-06 21:33 |
He said the V10 was put in the Ram in 1994 which is the early nineties. Also, how can the Cummins diesel be both a straight six and a V6? Those are completely different things. Furthermore, I don't think that it's the only V6 diesel engine. Off the top of my head I can think of the Isuzu engine used in the SAAB 9-5 and Renault Vel Satis and the PSA engines used in the Jaguar XF and Land Rover Discovery. |
◊ 2012-05-06 21:49 |
I would refer to 1994 as to "mid nineties". |
◊ 2012-05-06 22:10 |
If I remember right, at some point the engine badge is visible on the truck, but I don’t remember if it said V-8 or V-10. Either way, not all of the pickups had V-10s, remember that more than one was provided by Chrysler as product placement, so some were optioned differentially. I also recall that mixture of 1500 series and 2500 series were used, but the "average viewer" would not notice this in the film. |

Actually, if I read properly, the Viper V10 was based on the Ram's Magnum V8 with 2 addtional cylinder's worth of engine block added to it, then offered in the Ram in '94, 2 years after the introduction of the Viper. Link to "en.wikipedia.org" -- Last edit: 2012-07-26 20:44:30 |

TravisCombs, the V10 emblem goes in front of the 2500 and 3500 Badges from the factory (closer to the engine on both sides). The screenshots you posted are of the RAM 1500 used in the movie, with the 3500/V10 badges, as well as overhead clearance lights placed on top of it (the badges were put on backwards as seen in your screenshots, as well as lined up very poorly). You can easily tell your screenshots are of the rebadged RAM 1500 because of the much lower 4x4 suspension height, incorrect placement of v10/3500 badges, and that the front axle shows only five lugs. The real Heavy Duty versions of the 2500/3500's only came with V10 and Cummins Engines. The 4x4 model of the rams with the V10/Cummins had a MUCH taller factory suspension (I think 5" factory lift) and had a heavy duty Dana 60 front axle (which is eight lugs). Some light duty 2500s had the 5.9 Magnum too, but they did not have the taller suspension/Dana 60 front axle. A real RAM 3500 was also used in many parts of the movie, as you can see in different parts of the movie, like these: First one is carrying DOROTHY: http://pics.imcdb.org/0is8/33268409638ff1839f8cb17.4514.jpg Second one where the super tall suspension is easily seen: http://pics.imcdb.org/0is183/twister050fr6.7060.jpg Third, with the camper top (same pic from the top of this page): /i002082.jpg |
