It's a very rare Reliant Sabre 4. It was introduced at the 1961 London Motor Show, so it's a 1962MY car.

Did Reliant made LHD version? Could it be a Israëlian built Sabra

This is very interesting, it´s probably the only sold Sabra Sport in Sweden :)

The Reliant Sabre wasn´t sold here, but Sabra did get an agent during 1964 and one car was shown and used for roadtests. That car had swedish plates on, but they were faked so I havn´t been able to trace it. In yearbooks for 1965 and 1966 it´s mentioned that Sabra has this swedish agent, but only one car seems to have been sold in 1965. That might have been the car used for tests, it likely but who knows. It was red like this one, if there were other colours.

So, it´s probably a 1965 Sabra Sport. That´s the name used in swedish sources, I think it was known as Sabra GT on other markets.

Yes its a Sabra Sports.........Sabra ST for Soft Top.

The Sabra GT had - obviously - a GT body. A fastback design, roof all part of the body. You can find more about these cars at http://sabra.be/

The only Swedish car I can find reference to had a number plate = EMZ-217

Thanks very much Sabresix!

Indeed EMZ217 belongs to a Sabra:

Regnr: EMZ217
Fabrikat: SABRA SPORT
Färg: RÖD
Fordonsår: 1965
Chassinummer: HT4844
Fordonsstatus: I trafik (2001-05-02)
I trafik första gången i Sverige: 1965-07-06
Kaross: Öppet (02)

Translation of the above:
Licensnumber: EMZ217
Make: SABRA SPORT
Color: RED
Modelyear: 1965
VIN: HT4844
Vehicle status: In traffic (from 2001-05-02)
In traffic first time in Sweden: 1965-07-06

I guess it's this very vehicle that is on the picture then?

Reliant in England made 153 LHD drive cars which were the initial production of the Sabra and mostly sent to the USA. The remaining 55 RHD cars of the 208 total England build were the Sabre 4. Parts were also sent to Israel for assembly to get the production going. Research continues to discover how many Sabras were Israel made.
Sabra HT indicates Hard Top we think that means it was originally shipped with a soft top and a removable hard top. The 4 character VIN is definately an Israel car. All of the English made ones had a VIN of S200xxx.

The "auto katalog" 1979 says, that ROM Carmel Industries in Haify produces 1500 cars per year, a light truck "Rom-Sussita" and the sedan "Rom 1300". The successor "1301" was announced. It has the 1.3 liter-54 hp-engine on the Ford Escort.

It's written, that they were bounded to Triumph between 1966 and 1971. No comment about the Reliant-connection.

In the 1982-issue there is a pic of the 1301-range.

How many of them are existing now? I've travelled in Israel in 1997 and haven't seen any Sabra at all.

The original company in Israel was called "Autocars of Haifa" I think ROM Carmel Industries took it over in 1963 after it went into liquidation. There is also the Anadol from 1965.
