I think this is actually an 88". Are there even 109" Lightweights?

Yes, it is an 88" Lightweight, and no, AFAIK there are no 109" LWs.

Like the others listed on IMCDb, Series IIa 1968 I believe for the earliest light-weight.

The first 1,400 built were Series IIA's delivered from Solihull in 1968.

Position of the headlights suggest a Series III to me. Where's our resident Landy expert, Alexander?

The headligvhts are not a reliable indicator. Like the standard Land Rover, the headlights moved from the grille to the wings in 1969 on the Series 2A and, in fact, this means many more headlihts in the wings 2A lightweights were built than headlights in the grille. However, this one is definitely a Series 3 judging by the windscreen hinge.
