Was [B130] code for Standard and [B131] for deLuxe?? Or [B130] for early ones and [B131] for late ones - if so when did it change?? Maybe the July 57 revamp to 6-seater?? Or even the Dec 58 revamp - 7 extra bhp, bigger rear window?? Whatever the answer, I think we've got some tidying up to across our collection. |

Certainly. However, in checking Nissan Austin catalogues, at no point does the B130 or 131 nomenclature appear. |

Now I'm wondering if trim details changed during production, and maybe there were 3 trim (evolving??) levels to juggle 1] 1956 brochure, 2 versions - better one has side trim but no flash ![]() 2] newer brochure, no date found suggests 3 versions - best one has side flash, 2-tone, and shiny dustbin lid hubcaps ![]() |

In the first year of production, 1955, only the Standard model was available: ![]() For the Tokyo show in 1956 (April), the de luxe version appears, with which there will be 2 versions (standard and de luxe): ![]() in February 1957, the two-colour scheme appears for the first time in the deluxe, although this scheme lasts only a few months: ![]() In the summer of 1957, the version with white deluxe side trim appears. The standard version is retained. The catalogue shows 3 models because there are the standard, the deluxe one-colour and the deluxe two-colour: ![]() At the end of 1958 the definitive version appeared, which would be kept until March 1960. Also in 2 versions Standard and deluxe: ![]() Finally, in April 1959, the Van version appeared: ![]() |

![]() Two details which seem to emerge from juggling between them: 1] the estate "Van" seems to have had both Standard and deLuxe versions 2] there's a change in hubcaps from early dogbowl (similar to UK pattern) on both Standard and deLuxe ![]() to fully chromed dome ![]() from summer 57. This might be particularly useful for dating Standards, as these don't seem to evolve Still the B130/B131 question to resolve to wrap things up neatly .... |

The most notable change in both Standard and deLuxe was in November 1958. I still cannot find the b130 nomenclature in any Japanese catalogue. |

If you look at the first text block in s13a's link, it might say B130 where I've put the first arrow and B131 above the second arrow![]() but as I can't read Japanese I've no idea what any of it means. |

1955 is when the Nissan Austin A50 Cambridge Saloon was released (Arrow #1), and 1956 is when the A50 "became a full domestic production" (Arrow #2). Nothing about B130 and B131s being mentioned here. -- Last edit: 2025-05-01 03:29:32 |

Those signs and 30 and 31 are the years 1955 and 1956 in the showa era. |
