It is a 300 ’Adenauer’ [W186]. The absence of front vent window indicates a 1952-53 model. |

Help! I'm confused Is the [W186] the 'Adenauer' Mercedes, or is it the 300d 'Dora' [W189]? I only ask because I'd have thought the Dora was less likely to dislodge Der Alte's Homburg |

These rounder fenders tell it's an 'Adenauer', though some of the squarer models are listed as 'Adenauer' on this site as well. I hadn't thought of 'Dora' for the 300d, but that's a good nickname for that later version, indeed |

The BMW 501/502 has caused this problem, so it wasn't accepted by Mr.Adenauer And *nitpicking modus on*: Adenauer usually didn't wear "Homburg"-hats. The "Homburg" had a symbolic meaning for "capitalists", often used by owners of big companies. By the strict 50ies-dress-code, a "Homburg" wasn't good for a politician. *nitpicking modus off* |

I knew that, but the roofline of the [W186] doesn't look any higher than the Barockengel's; that's why I wondered if the Adenauer tag actually belonged to the Dora. BTW, Ingo, feel free to nitpick, I'm even less of an authority on hats than on cars |
