NO! If it's a US based Film, they are almost always using a US-spec car. No `89 E31 existed in the US! 1991, was the 1st year for the E31 in the US. So, this is a US E31 850i, 850Ci, or 840Ci. I really doubt this is a 850CSi - the air-dam is a little different on that model. Not to mention very few 850CSi's were made. 1991-1997 was the E31's lifespan in the US. *By the way, the 850CSi was only available in the US in 1994-1995. -- Last edit: 2006-03-27 22:25:43 |

I don't know if it helps any, but this 8 had wheels identical to the one on this car: http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/aa/1e/1d_1.JPG |

Nice additional picture of that 8 (sliver looks awesome on the E31). Those wheels were NEVER standard on ANY E31. If I had more photos of this E31 from this movie I could tell - E31's have very few exterior differences between the models. Aside from looking at the rear badge, or exhausts, or STOCK wheels - it's very hard to tell. Although the 850CSi was special. The exterior had a special front-end/air dam, special quad exhausts, and unique wheels. So the 850CSi is a little easier to tell, from any other 8. Otherwise it's hard. |

I've just rewatched it on TV. This '91-'94 US E31 was used only in a very brief scene (2 stars) when Stella Bridger (Charlize Theron) meets the other components of the 'gang'. It was driven by Handsome Rob (Jason Statham) - it arrives aggresively and parks. We can see the strange wheels, never seen on a E31, as Adrian said. No interior shots. |

The car in The Italian Job is a 1997 BMW 840Ci. The same car was later driven by Matt Damon in the Informant. |
