Oh Dear!!! Poor Daimler! Why did they destroy a nice British beauty! And it's an expensive and rare car!!! Damn it!!! And furthermore, it's probably one of the last models of this British manufacturer! -- Last edit: 2008-08-20 03:08:49 |

Au contraire, XJ40s are cheap, which is why they get blown up in films. -- Last edit: 2008-08-20 11:19:01 |

I have seen countless of XJ40's destroyed in various German police shows (der Clown, Ein Fall für Zwei etc.). I think they are quite cheap indeed. Also in the latest Top Gear episode two XJ40's were abused in GB vs Germany challenge. |

Yes, over here they much cheaper than same aged Mercedes, BMW or Audi. The reputation (reliability and so on) is still not very high -as usual for nearly all British cars in the last decades, except Rolls Royce and the BMW Mini- and the people are afraid to buy an used Jaguar, because of the following costs. Insurance, official Jaguar garages and spare parts are very expensive. Yes, if you see any Jaguar in any German movie, you can be quite sure, that it will be destroyed sooner or later. Jag's in German movies are comparable with the black stetson-hats in western-movies: always used by the bad guys. -- Last edit: 2008-08-20 21:06:09 |

This is a Jag, probably early 1989+ XJR if most details are accurate. |

Although it says Daimler on the steering wheel in the first thumbnail, they could have used a different car for interior shots. The alloys are XJ6 (from later on in the run) what makes you think this is XJR? I'd just say XJ6. -- Last edit: 2011-06-18 04:41:55 |

XJR for the blackened chrome on windows and lights, but mongrel status may apply. |

That's what my guess would be, there's no rear badges and those black door handles look custom. Given that this car gets wrecked, it could well be a mismash of different parts, or several cars were used for this episode. |

The other idea is Sept 93 onwards XJ6 3.2 also had black window chrome and black grille inserts for a year until replaced by X300, so could be possible here. XJ6 4.0 was dropped in Sept 93 and replaced by XJ6 4.0S, but this is not an S as no front fogs. |
