This is a Siebert Sedan Ambulance, done by the Shop of Siebert, Toledo, Ohio. This body style was offered on both Mercury and Ford chassis. |

Agree, it is a 1946 Mercury Ambulance Conversion by the Siebert Company of Toledo Ohio .Siebert used the 4 door sedan body , lengthened it and modified the doors and rear quarter panels. |

This Mercury Siebert ambulance was one of about 6 ordered by the Chicago Fire Department after WW II to expand the city's ambulance service. These cars had a black over red paint job, rear loading door was hinged on top, had red and green Mars 888 lights on front fenders, and a Mars figure 8 light added to roof later. They were very busy vehicles...lots of call every day. |
