When I look at classiccarcatalogue I'm finding more than one name, but I don't understand if that is depending on the year it was built or if there were parallel versions. Peugeot "Camionnette Bachée 403 B8" and "Plateu Cabine 403 B8" : http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/PEUGEOT_1965.html Peugeot 403 U Camionette: http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/PEUGEOT_1963.html -- Last edit: 2023-11-20 17:28:59 |

look : this is a 403 a flatbed van (=plateau in french - quite rare) : http://vroomvroom.canalblog.com/archives/2014/04/01/29559046.html this is pick-up : http://vroomvroom.canalblog.com/archives/2017/06/18/35395190.html this is a pick up with a cover (= une bâche in french so adjective= bâchée/covered) : https://www.flickr.com/photos/claude22/47938026902 To get the exact name, you'd have to find the original Peugeot documentation (often called here "the R.T.A" = Revue technique Automobile/Automotive technical review) But it's true that names changed more or less from year to year and versions changed according to the export destination of the vehicles (see the Citroen ID/DS) etc but it was often the same base (chassis + cabine) and a simple motor with a few improvements over time. Here's the Peugeot archives center in east of France : https://laventure-association.com/en/the-terre-blanche-archive-centre/ enjoy ! ![]() so this Peugeot is a 403 pickup -- Last edit: 2023-11-20 20:35:11 |

I guess you all know the origin of the zero in Peugeot numbering : 104 203 404 504 etc ![]() |

I don't. Thank you for your information above, my knowledge of the French language is very limited indeed. When people ask if I know any French I usually reply that the only sentence I know. That is "Je ne comprend pas." ...but I'm interested and, given time, I will try to understand more. -- Last edit: 2023-11-21 13:12:25 |

Hello Scotland ! so...the Peugeot zero number is originally the hole where you had to put the crank to start the engine that's which is why Peugeot has always kept these three-digit car numbers, by tradition. Btw, french is an hard langage - sometime, even for me - and everybody tells "I don't understand" in any langage, beleive me ! My english is quite bad (I used to draw cars during my lessons) but I'd like to come in Scotland... ![]() -- Last edit: 2023-11-23 21:05:15 |

Hello on behalf of us all. I don't really understand how we're involved in this exchange, but it's nice to be noticed. And in a spirit of global cordiality and friendship, I'll spin the wheel and say Hello Tasmania ! |

Yes, but according to Link to "translate.google.com" Camionnette = Van Bâchée = Covered I cannot see that it's covered. |
