What's this E114? |
◊ 2008-05-31 17:42 |
oh sorry, it'll be E10 manufacturer code; |
◊ 2008-05-31 18:21 |
But how come that none other on the site is listed with that code? I do not remember what was the reason, if there was one, for not putting a code for these models... |

Don't ask me, i thoink it was a long before i join imcdb. Many BMW's haven't listed their manufacturer codes, i.e. 1600-2, 1502, 1802 [E114] 1500 [E115] 1800 [E118] 2000 [E121] 2000CS [E120] 2002 Touring [E6] 3200CS [E512] 501 [E501] 502 [E502] 503 [E503] 507 [E507] 600 [E106/E111] 700 [E107] C1 [Z14] Isetta [E100, E101, E102] and new MINI's R50, R52, R53, R55, R56 |

please, forget the older BMW typ-numbers (they are NOT "E" numbers). So we say 118 and not E118. It was a engine number. 114, 115,... (one 1 and the engine size in litre) The E means "Entwicklungscode" and was the new system 1968 for complete new BMWs after 1968 and also the 2002 + 2000 with the new engine from the later coming 520 E12. The older BMW 02 with engine number 121 is Typ "114", the later 02 (begining in ~1971/72) with engine E12 was E10. But the later 1502 from 1977 and all 1600-2 and 1802 with engine 118 is 114. The same with the "new class" 2000, Typ "121" and E8. It is very diffuse (The first plan in 1964/65 for the BMW 02 was a 1.4 litre engine -> Typ 114.) -- Last edit: 2009-08-21 18:38:20 |

I was nearly sure that there was a reason; I just could not find Ralph's post about it in old comments About Mini's codes, these should be added. It is on my to-do list since January 2007 /vehicle.php?id=83089#AddComment |

In the movie has the 2002 a aircondition, but it is not filming in this car. It is a BMW E30 aircondition and dashboard |

Yes, you're right. It was another car. |

You guys are right about the a/c The script called for a/c but this 2002 doesn't have a/c so they substituted another car. I guess they thought no one would notice the difference! Also the 2002 is a 1976, not a 1974 as stated at the top. And, A 2002 motor is referred to as an M-10. I know all this because this is my personal car, which I rented to this film production company. The movie was shot in Toronto. |

Ralph, the number on the cylinder head is just that, a cylinder head number, not an engine number. Not that I care that much, and it is pretty complex, with lots of variations. |
