The yellow one. VW is already listed. |

The yellow car is a Chevrolet Opala cupê (coupé). |

In my opinion orign USA is not correct. The Opala bases on the German Opel Rekord C. That one above on the Coupé. |

The "cupê" body was introduced in September 1971 for the 1972 model year, but it seems that GM do Brasil never officially used the term "cupé". |

I meant, that the Opala shown above was based on the Opel Rekord C Coupé. |

All of them have Brasiian origin, I'm not sure how it should be. rpcm, indeed also Leganza wrote this name (cupê) by small 'c', that's why I've added it only as an extra info. |

When a Chevrolet Opala shall be "orign Brazil", than a VW Citigolf has to be "orign South Africa" with the same right. The situation is identical. We had this discussion somewhere else before, for example at the Citigolf. |

But did that coupé exist as Opel? If yes, then it should be listed as German origin to respect that logic. |

Although this coupé body also existed as Opel, the Citigolf is a Golf and it's still a VW, whereas this has a different brand and it's no longer an Opel, but a Chevrolet with more different items. This may bring some questions about other models too: for instance, aren't the Seat 124 or the 850 originally Italian models wearing a different brand? -- Last edit: 2008-04-28 22:53:33 |

@rpcm: with GM-cars we have the problem, that they sell identical cars under a lot of names. See the actual Chevrolet-range in South America. All of them are European Opel/Vauxhall-models. While the new Chevrolets in Europe are re-named Daewoo's. Since how many years Opel and Vauxhall-cars are identical (except RHD, LHD, but you can have RHD Opel, too)? The cars are on the same assembly line i nthe same plants. Just details like badges and hubcaps are different. So it's quite idiotical to say to a Opel Zafira "origin Germany" and to the same car with the Vauxhall-logo on it "orign GB". |

@antp: surely, there was an Opel Rekord C Coupé, also offered as Commodore A Coupé - and the same body was used for the extremely rare, Belgian made Ranger, too. P.S.About the Ranger I've heard in this forum the first time. You always learn new things over here... |
