This looks like a GKN Abbot Self Propelled Gun. FV432 chassis with a turret fitted.

GKN Defence FV 432 as john from staffs correctly identified previously.

Alvis registration must be due to later registration when Alvis-Vickers had taken over from GKN.

Alvis bought GKN Defence out of the GKN Group in 1998 and the name of the new company became Alvis Vehicles Limited. The Coventry works was closed and the company was moved into the GKN plant in Shropshire where all the FV 430 series vehicles had been fabricated, as were the Saxon and the Warrior vehicles plus various other designs of armoured personnel carrier for overseas customers.

When Alvis bought Vickers from the Rolls-Royce Group the name of the company became Alvis Vickers Limited, and the final change was made to BAE Systems Land Systems (Weapons and Vehicles) upon the acquisition of the entire Alvis Group by BAE Systems. The company is still the design authority for the various vehicles it has produced, but construction is now concentrated in Newcastle upon Tyne and the structure of the company also includes the previously Royal Ordnance vehicle interests.

I spent 23 years working for them.
