later on there is a scene, when "piedone" bud spencer smashes a back side-window of the espada with his ellbow.

after watching this movie years ago, i tried to do the same on our local junkyard. sure, not at a lamborghini, only at an opel ascona. my ellbow hurts after trying it, but the window didnt broke. :)

Maybe windows were more fragile back then? ;)

I know it might be a blasphemy :D but in my opinion, Espada is just ugly, especially back. Yet, I agree, it's a great car, and a great photo ;)

no, the ascona was from the 70ies, too. and european cars since the 50ies had -had to have- security-glass all around.

at us-cars this was different. so some people really got problems, when they imported us-cars from the 40ies or 50ies. when there was no security-glass-logo on the window, or it was no security-glass at all, it was -still is- not possible to get a registration. yes, there were some people, who had to change all windows of their us-cars to get a valid german or other european registration.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Sr. Pedersoli's success?

Is this a fastback or a notchback? V12 mounted in the rear?

@chris40: i remember a stupid german comedy from the 80ies or so, where two guys have smashed the side-window of a volvo 244. it was clearly to see, even to hear, that it was just simple window-glass, which they had put in the volvo's door-frame before.

Safety glass (toughened as used in side and rear windows) is not easily broken by force alone. It is more likely to be broken by impact with a hard, sharp object. Hitting it with a fist, or kicking it with a foot is unlikely to smash it.

I have seen someone break a side glass in a door by slamming extremely hard in a laboratory strength test. However this was only because it was wound halfway down at the time so it was only supported on the vertical edges. Nobody would normally expect to exert that amount of force.
