Judging from the cowled front lights and the similar treatment of the rear lights, it’s a Hooper body. |

Bentley S1 Continental ≈ 1957 |

Why? |

Nearly identical: https://www.hagerty.com/apps/valuationtools/1957-bentley-s1_continental |

Nearly identical? So, it might be a 1958. You can’t just guess. Your suggested car is, in fact mentioned by the advertiser as a 1959 model. It does not have to be an S1 Continental, it could be long wheelbase, and it might also be an S2, or, to be accurate the S2 Continental with that body. https://www.rmw.lv/car/en/s2-continental-flying-spur-by-hooper I have already looked at that car and did not call it because it is not right. Have you, for instance, compared the depth of the boot lid of the subject picture with the car you suggested? Also, you have completely missed the fact that the blue car has doors that overlap the sills, and the subject car has doors that finish above the sills. -- Last edit: 2021-06-27 21:37:40 |

I am really struggling with this, I cannot match the various elements of this body design in one car, especially the Hooperesque light cowls with short doors. I have not even been able to decide if we have a Standard, a Long Wheelbase, or a Continental chassis. I will keep hunting. |

How about 747 LOR - 1956 S1 By Freestone & Webb, available as rental from same folk as 554 LOR - "We have kept this famous Freestone and Webb Bentley, Silver Lady, as it was when it won the gold medal at the Earls Court motor show of 1956. Light silver body with black roof, whitewall tyres. Only five of these hand-built cars were made ... ". Chassis B354CK. |

I think that will fit the bill. The better view of the headlights shows the F & W style of cowl, not Hooper. The examples I could find did not have the wider rear windscreen. Thanks. |

I had a hunch about the rear plate, and their fleet of xxx LOR numbers is a useful reference in case further examples pop up. |
