I think the only Vauxhall car built in the UK is the Astra. |

At that time, many Vauxhalls were still made in the UK, but the Omega was completely shipped in from Germany. |

As I know, the Omega was only made in the Opel-factory in Rüsselsheim. We had this discussion several times with other Opel/Vauxhall. The newer cars, like -mainly- Astra G and E and Zafira, also Vectra B and C (I don't know, how it was with older models) were/are produced identical in plants in Germany, England, Poland and Belgium. With Astra and Zafira it's so, that all factories are making all versions, so the badges -or RHD or LHD- says nothing about the orign country. You only can see it by checking the chassis-numbers. A time ago I've seen, how a truck was loading off brand new Astras and Zafiras at a Opel-dealer in Bochum, just a few hundred meters away from the Opel-factory - the truck had a Polish plate from Katowice. And annother Polish truck had just picked up other Astras - to bring them to Poland. A friend of mine has bought a new Astra G, resp. his father has bought with a good discount, because he was a worker in the Astra-factory in Bochum, directly in the factory. The father thought, that he was mounting this car, but when he got it, it had a chassis-number from the Vauxhall-factory in Britain. |

L618LBH Make: VAUXHALL Year of manufacture: 1994 Model: OMEGA Engine size(CC): 1998 All Vauxhall Omegas were made in Rüsselheim Germany, the current Astras both Opel and Vauxhall are made at Elsemere Port UK and Bochum. I believe the contract for Elsemere Port to build the next Astra from 2010 means that it is safe from closure in the near future. |
