Reg is E797 MWP ✓ Taxed ✓ MOT First registration: July 1995 Cylinder Capacity: 5000cc Fuel Type: Petrol Obviously an import so first registration is UK. |

Looks like they put the year wrong |

It's also a 1987/88 plate. |

That sounds in the model year range, Sandie. |

So, what's the verdict? |

id say this is a 1987 model by the plate that was registered in 1995. |

If it says 1987/1988 it would be a 1988 MY. At least that is how it works in South America so it could be a moot point here. |

Sorry, I'm using it in the sense that E plates were issued to cars from between August 1987 and July 1988, I've not done a check or anything, it's just how the system worked. A true 1995 would be M or N. I think the Brazian checks give a year of registration and a model year when two different years are stated? -- Last edit: 2020-07-29 02:24:00 |

a true 1995 wouldn't have that face either.. so.. around 1985 ? |

I see now Sandie. Yes Brazil gives two dates when the vehicle was manufactured in the calendar months of the year prior (September to December). If it was manufactured in the same year as the model year then only one date shows up. Agree with 1985 then? |

1985 would be safest, though it probably is 1987 or 1988 as there is no other reason for it to have the "E" plate. Though I admit strange things do happen. I think we're different from other countries as we have age identifiers (at this time the letters, now numbers so cars are currently getting "20" plates) for plates rather than issuing straightforwardly in sequence, so a car that's imported in 1995 will get a plate based on its age rather than just one that's the next one in sequence. -- Last edit: 2020-07-30 10:40:42 |

Ending all the confusion above. Number plate E797MWP VIN 1GBEG25HVJ7145071 = 1988 MY by the VIN. Also, a G-20. |
