1949 bought and restored and owned by John "Jumbo" Goddard "Craving an Edwardian, Goddard found his 1911 60h.p. chain-drive Cottin et Desgouttes at Woodbridge in very sorry condition. After partial restoration, it was run on Delage wheels, but has since been fully rebuilt by Humphries Garage at Bracknell and Jack Playford of Thornton Heath and formed the subject of "Veteran Types—No. XXXVIII" in Motor Sport for November 1957." - from December 1962 reference. Goddard sold it in 1960 to Tom Wheatcroft and it was in his collection until 2001, then bought by US collector and won two awards at the 2002 Pebble Beach Concours.

John Lemuel “Jumbo” Goddard, 1908 - 1983, also a great campaigner of the Vintage Bentley. Apprentice at J I Thornycroft of Southampton, he probably still holds the speed record for fastest vintage Bentley reported as 164mph in his 3 litre Bentley which was fitted with a turbocharged 8 litre engine.

His obituary appeared in Bentley Drivers Club review no. 148 of May 1983.
