John Lemuel “Jumbo” Goddard, 1908 - 1983, also a great campaigner of the Vintage Bentley. Apprentice at J I Thornycroft of Southampton, he probably still holds the speed record for fastest vintage Bentley reported as 164mph in his 3 litre Bentley which was fitted with a turbocharged 8 litre engine. His obituary appeared in Bentley Drivers Club review no. 148 of May 1983. -- Last edit: 2018-06-07 22:25:48 |
